When visiting the US, it would be rude not to make the most of the opportunity and see what this fantastic country has to offer. Road trips are exceptionally popular over here as they allow you to see lots of places that you wouldn’t get to see if you visit just one or two cities.
The US is famous for epic road trips like Route 66, and even if you are a native, you could discover a whole new insight into the states we have the pleasure to visit by car. Okay, so if you are ready to plan your exciting US road trip, then here are some of the best routes to take:

Route 66 – We couldn’t leave this famous route out, could we? Route 66 spans a huge 2,448 miles, so you had best book a long period of time off work to cover this journey off. The route takes you from Santa Monica in California to Chicago. Route 66 is so iconic that it is referred to as the Main Street of America, and people rate this as the ultimate road trip in the world. Along the way, you will come across the Grand Canyon, bleak desert occupied by Native American communities, and the stunning beaches of LA. If you want to finish your trip with a bit of sunbathing and relaxation, then you should start at Chicago and make your way to the west coast rather than the reverse order.

California State Route 1 – If you’re a fan of the more coastal environments along the California stretch, then the California State Route 1 could be the perfect trip for you. A much shorter journey than Route 66, it covers just over 650 miles, making the trip more realistic if you are pushed for time. Take in LA, San Francisco and many more Californian cities and towns along the way.

Coast to Coast – The extremes of the west coast and the east coast must be experienced to understand. There are a few different routes that offer the option to go from east to west coast or vice versa. Route 20 is a popular choice that will take you through Atlantic City, New Jersey, Boston, Idaho Falls and Chicago amongst other fun-filled and historical destinations.
If you’re looking to see the best of the US, you simply have to take a road trip. Even if it isn’t something that you can do in the near future, at least one of these awesome routes must make it onto your bucket list.
