If there’s just one place you head to as a book lover in London, it should absolutely be The British Library. It is home to every single book that’s published within the UK. This gives you hours to spend browsing through its shelves.
It’s located right by the Euston Station too. So, you could save money by investing in off-peak tickets and browsing through the free library. Great for the budget-conscious traveller!
The Sherlock Holmes Museum
Situated on 221b Baker Street, the Sherlock Holmes Museum is a popular literacy attraction. Dedicated to the fictional character this quirky museum features furniture and props from the popular series. You can partake in interactive tours, and get a feel for the world the fictional character lived in.
Harry Potter World
One of the most popular tourist attractions for book and movie lovers alike, is Harry Potter World. Situated in Watford, it’s a little out of London, but it’s definitely worth the trip. You’ll get to see the set of the movies, take a fascinating studio tour, and look at props and costumes which were also part of the films. Most notably, you’ll get to enjoy some unique culinary delicacies which were featured in the books.
Notting Hill
The district of Notting Hill is a haven for book lovers. As well as being home to numerous independent bookstores, the district also features a great market where you’ll find some more unique titles. Of course, it is also home to the famous The Notting Hill Bookshop, which featured as The Travel Book Co in the popular Notting Hill film. Be aware that this bookshop does get pretty crowded due to its significance in the film.
Libreria
Located in East London, Libreria is a great bookstore, encouraging you to read something different. It doesn’t feature a café or Wi-Fi, so your entire focus can be on reading. It arranges its books in broad themes like Disenchanted and Wanderlust. If you’re looking for a different reading experience, this is definitely a little gem you won’t want to miss.
