I am all for keeping my iPad protected as much as possible especially when the children are using it but I also like to change my cases often as I get bored with the same cover.
I was asked if I would like to review a Tech21 Impactology Impact Mesh for my iPad and I could even choose the colour I wanted. I chose pink.
When the Impact Mesh can I thought it was going to be a hard plastic backing for my iPad but I was presently surprised that it is a flexible rubber type material and is light-weight. It is made with D3O material. Molecules within D3O lock together to absorb the energy of an impact and disperse it away from the iPad
It was really easy to put the Impact Mesh onto the iPad, it clips into the corners and around the sides and its totally secured into the case when fitted properly and all the buttons and camera are fully accessible when the case is on.
I really do like the design and style of the Tech21 Impactology Impact Mesh, my iPad seems to be protected in it, although I am not about to throw my iPad on the floor just to test that theory and even my children haven’t dropped it, this could be to do with the material of the mesh as it is smooth but it doesn’t slip out of your hands.
It is designed to be compatible with the Apple Smart Cover and to be honest I would prefer that the two be sold together as I take my iPad out a lot and protecting it on the back is all fine and good but it also needs protection on the screen and when using the Impact Mesh it is not getting that so I have to change the cover to one that also protects the screen due to it being in my bag with keys and the likes.
I also read on the apple website on the Q&A part that someone states If you don’t have a Smart Cover, and don’t intend to get one, don’t buy this product. I don’t agree with that. I would say though if you do take your iPad out with you a lot it is best to get the smart cover to protect the screen and if you don’t intend on buying one then this may not be for you, but the smart covers are not very expensive to buy. Although if you just use the iPad at home it is fine without the cover.
