As you may have seen in a previous post, we were sent a huge bundle of toys and games from TOMY to review. We have finally got round to playing with Rizmo a little alien type toy, I have heard that is likened to a Furby but it is much better because Rizmo evolves!
Rizmo was named in the Dream Toys Top 12 and number one nurturing toy on How To Spend It Well at Christmas with Phillip Schofield.

Rizmo arrives as an oval-shaped ball with small eyes, this is baby stage and as soon as you have opened the box and lifted it out, it wakes up. We received a Berry on and it can evolve into one of two different styles with unique musical attributes, ours could have evolved into either Berry Pop Star or Berry Hip-Hop Star, but there is no way of knowing until it has evolved.

In the box is a big instruction guide, and a mini-guide too, I would suggest looking at the big one as the small one is very basic and we didn’t know how to get it to evolve until we had a look at the big one. You are supposed to cheer it on else it will stop evolving and just give the flashing sequence of eyes every now and then but no evolving.
To evolve to child stage you need ‘feed’ it with songs and play, when you have reached at least 15 songs and 20 musical points it will start to evolve. You don’t always get musical points when playing so listen out for the dings.
Its eyes start to go through a sequence of flashing from green, yellow, blue, orange, red, purple while playing a tune, then its eyes turn white. This is the time you need to encourage it to evolve, saying you can do it Rizmo, clapping, yay, woohoo all help and if it works you will notice something happening…

A tail pops out, so now you have Rizmo as an oval-shaped ball of fluff with a tail. It has evolved into a kid. It looks kind of cute with just beady eyes and a fluffy tail.

Continue playing as you have been, it may take a little longer than before, but it won’t be long until it is ready to evolve again. Placing it on the table we encouraged it again and it evolved, into Berry Hip-Hop Star. Once it has fully evolved you will notice that the lights are now on the chest rather than the beady eyes at the back, it really does have eyes in the back of its head, which made me laugh, how many mums wish they had that! They are not really relevant anymore, apart from when we have a grumpy Rizmo, yep it actually gets grumpy and moans.
It now has 2 new play modes too, a light blue chest means Color Challenge Game and pink means Dance to music, play your music to it and it will dance with you.
This is such a fun toy, my kids really like it, I don’t know who was more excited when it started to evolve though, me or the kids, my three year old wanted it to change back into kid stage as he liked the tail popping out, my 12-year-old likes it now it has evolved fully.
I am sure this is going to be played with a lot. And what is even better is that mum and dad, if it is really annoying you by randomly chatting when the kids aren’t about, it has an OFF switch! Yes, you can turn it off and it doesn’t lose any memory.
Rizmo is going to be popular so grab one before they sell out this Christmas. They are suitable for age 6 and up. They can be purchased from Argos, Smyths, Amazon, Hamleys and John Lewis priced at just £30 right now, so it has dropped in price by £10 in 2 days.
