John Deere Build a Johnny Tractor

My son Zander was over the moon when he saw a John Deere Build a Johnny Tractor in Christmas toy parcel we received from TOMY to review. I have actually never seen him so excited. He wanted to play with it straight away, how could I refuse? Obviously, he had to wait just a few minutes while I took some photos and take it out of the box while he was shouting “tractor, tractor” but he didn’t have to wait long.

Build a Johnny Tractor is a large tractor, suitable for ages 18 months and over, it can be played in two ways, you can play with it like a regular 4 wheeled toy, whizzing it around the floor but you can also use the ‘power drill’ that comes with it and take it apart and fix it back together again. The drill includes batteries so can be played with straight away, it also has 2 different drivers that you can put on it, a Phillips head and a Flathead.

The screws are large and easily accessed even for small hands and are located in all four wheels, the roof and the bonnet.

This is not only a great toy but it helps with motor and building skill development.

Zander likes the Build a Johnny Tractor a lot, he has a large tractor like this, with eyes but not one that he can take apart and put back together, plus it is extra special as it is a John Deere tractor. Green is always a John Deere, we have been teaching him this, as we live in the countryside and see a lot of tractors.

The drill is great, there is a switch at the top, put it in the central position and it locks the drill, push it forward and it spins clockwise and pushing it back, spins it in an anticlockwise position. Zander didn’t get it at all and just kept asking me or his dad to ‘fix’ it because it wouldn’t do what he wanted it to do.

He has been sitting on the floor for some time, which is unusual in itself just screwing and unscrewing the screws on the tractor, both with his hands as it can be done with hands too, and the drill and then driving it around the living room.

It is something I am sure he will get a lot of enjoyment from.
