Not having enough time can be an excuse for pretty much anything, especially if it is something that we’re not actually that interested in. But really, if you want to do something, where there is a will, there is a way. The thing is, when it comes to hobbies and making time to do something for yourself, it can be really tricky as we can feel like there are so many other things that we could be doing. You might not think that you have time, but actually, you really do.
Have you ever wanted to cross something off a bucket list, or wanted to learn how to cook or bake a particular thing? Perhaps you’ve always wanted to get into cycling or wanted to try yoga. If you’re someone who wants to speak a new language by your next holiday or you want to be able to knit or sew something for your new niece or nephew that is on the way, then these things can all be a good idea. But the thing is that these are all great things to do to pass the time, you just need to make sure that you have space in your schedule.
You just need to think of all of the times where you have just sat watching Tv or a movie that you’re not really interested in, or spent an evening cleaning a house that is already pretty clean. If you can plan and change things around, then moving some things around can make it possible to try something new and do what you want to do. So here are some of the ways that you can have time for a hobby, even with a busy schedule.

Find where you are wasting time
We are not going to be productive all the time and at all times of the day. Of course, some downtime to do things like scrolling through Instagram or falling down a bit of a YouTube rabbit hole can be welcomed from time to time. But there are some times that are just going to be wasted if you’re not careful. So look at your day and think about where those times are when you just want to slump and stare at the TV are; these can be great times to fit in your hobby. A lot of the time, if you need to add something new into your life, then often you need to take some time from somewhere else and shift the focus a little. So if you’re tempted to waste some time on Pinterest, you could be using that half an hour to put your energy into your hobby.
Combine your hobby with something else
There are plenty of things in our life that can double up, which helps to save you time and energy but gets it all done as you’d like to. For example, if you have a new bike and want to get back into cycling, then could you cycle to work or take the bikes on the school run? It is doubling up something and will make a difference. If you want to get into horse riding, then could you get the things that you need online from somewhere like Equi Supermarket, and then have a lesson when the children do? Plus, if you do like to spend some of your evenings watching Netflix, then could you choose a hobby that can be done in front of the TV, like sewing or painting?
Change how you schedule things
If you think about it, and you don’t have a lot of time for things, then you need to think if you need to have a schedule that is so busy and jam-packed. Of course, there are some things that we definitely need to do each day, but the other things that we add to our list can be up to us. If you want to make time for the gym or for just reading a new book, then you need to make time for it in your schedule. If you change the way that you create your schedule, then it will mean that there is time for it all.
When you think about the to-do list that you have, then there are things like the important tasks and the things that you have to get done. So think about three or four must-dos for the day, and then it can leave some room for your hobby and for your self-care which is needed for all from time to time.
