One of my dogs, Gizmo has allergies to pretty much everything you would find in day to day life, dust mites, grass, pollen to name a few. He has undergone many tests and treatments to try and treat the allergies but alas nothing has worked and the vet has now given up with him saying he is what he is.
In the warmer weather his belly will turn red and he gets very itchy and to try and relieve him a little I usually give him a cool shower or bath His fur feels horrible to touch after a few days of bathing, mainly a dry feeling and the shine disappears too. I am not sure whether it is because he licks himself constantly. I am always looking for ways to make him comfortable so when I was contacted by Anicura Natural Pet Solutions I agreed to try a few of their products on him.
The first two products I used on him was the Anicura Dog Shampoo
Natural Skin Therapy Deep Cleansing Shampoo
For dogs with dry, scaly and itchy skin. Leaves skin nourished and moisturised.
This contains no harmful artificial ingredients such as parabens and SLS and is safe to use on chapped, flaky, dry, itchy, inflamed skin including eczema.
The other product was the Anicura Dog Conditioner
Natural Skin Therapy deep Nourishing Conditioner
For dogs with dry, itchy irritated skin. Leaves skin and coat nourished.
This is again safe to use on chapped, flaky, dry, itchy, inflamed skin including eczema and contains no harmful artificial ingredients such as parabens and SLS.
I couldn’t wait to try the products on him and see if it made a difference to him.
These bottles have pump action nozzles and contains 300ml.
The shampoo is easy to dispense with one hand and smells nice and lathers up well and I gave Gizmo a good massage while working in the lather and he was loving it. It rinsed off well too leaving no residue. He was already smelling nicer.
The conditioner also smells great, I could smell the tea tree oil straight away. It again was easy to dispense and I worked this into Gizmo’s fur while massaging him. It rinsed off easily and left no residue.
If we do not dry Gizmo with the hairdryer it takes practically all day for his fur to dry completely, luckily he likes the fuss and attention of being pampered while getting dried with the hairdryer on a low heat. He just sits there enjoying himself. I use his brush while drying him and brush through the fur to make sure it is all dry.
I was shocked once he was dry that his fur felt so soft and not dry like it normally is, he smells lovely and it is so shiny. He was strutting around all happy with himself so he must have felt better for it too.
I usually bathe him once a week due to his allergies but I have left it longer since using the shampoo and conditioner, he has now been going for at least two weeks before his fur starts feeling a little greasy again.
The shampoo and conditioner cost £13.99 each but they are reasonable sized bottles and will last a long while before needing to be replaced. They have made Gizmo’s fur look in much better condition and he does not scratch half as much now so I think they are well worth it.
The next product I used on Gizmo and Peppa this time was the Anicura Insect Repellent
Natural Skin Therapy, Repels against Insects, fleas and ticks.
Naturally active long-lasting protection from stings & bites.
This is totally free from steroids, cortisones, peroxides, alcohol, parabens and antibiotics.
It has a pump action spray which makes it really easy to distribute. I could smell the citronella oil straight away. It is actually a really nice smell. It sprayed it all over both dogs on their coat and skin too and let them get on with their day. So far so good, they have not had a single flea, tick or been bitten by any insects.
The Dog Spray costs £14.99 for a 100ml bottle.
The final product we had been sent was Anicura Dog Spray Treatment.
Natural Skin Therapy for skin disorders & infections.
For chapped, flaky, dry, itchy, inflamed skin including eczema.
It is free from steroids, hormones, cortisones, peroxides, alcohol, parabens and antibiotics.
Now luckily Gizmo has not had a flare up this year yet although I do anticipate that he will get a flare up as the weather gets warmer and the pollen levels rise. I really didn’t want to use it on him due to nothing being wrong at the moment with him. However if and when he does get a flare up I will use it and I will review that separately on my blog.
This comes in a pump action spray bottle costing £14.99 for a 75ml bottle.
All of these products can be purchased on the Anicura website.
