The past two years have seen an incredible shift in the day-to-day operations of the world. Office shut, daily commutes ended, and we ended up doing it all – Schooling, working, and holidaying – from our homes! So, the more we stay in our homes, the more we want or need to renovate our homes to fit us and our lifestyle! So, here are some of the biggest trends for renovating the house in 2021!
House Renovation
This trend will never get old, by getting an extension is one of the best ways to adapt your house to your lifestyle. They are a great way to gain extra living space allowing for increased family quality time; they can modernise and improve the efficiency of your home, with more people deciding to create open plan kitchens and living areas, making larger sociable spaces. It also allows you to add value to your property.
There are many house extensions ideas; you could consider a two-story extension. Building an extra story on top of an existing single-story structure such as a garage provides existing foundations! Adding a conservatory or sunroom is also a good idea, to let in light and gain extra room.
Incorporate Green Solutions
Insulation is a great idea to make your house greener; it is essential for any eco renovation because as much as 40% of a home’s heat loss is down to a lack of it.
Go for double or triple glazing; over 10% of a home’s energy can be lost through windows, so yours must perform well too. Replacing single-glaze windows with double or triple will slow heat transfer!
Solar Panels can be used to produce hot water or generate electricity, and you don’t need direct sunlight to work, so you can generate electricity on a cloudy day! Win-Win!
Home Office
With most society working from home, there may have been a struggle to create a routine; where can you charge the laptop, how do you work from home and school the kids at the same time? There were many teething problems, so it’s a good idea to create a functional, inspiring, and stress-reducing space!
A common trend is to convert an existing underutilised space of your home such as a garage, arctic or spare bedroom, or even extending the house to create either a modern and minimalist home office or even something cosy.
Painting
A fresh coat of paint is good to upgrade the space; it is a low-cost way to make a huge impact, whether you use deeply saturated, highly pigmented colours to make a statement or use a lighter colour to help brighten a room and make it feel a little bigger. More light-filled and darker colours can help you make your space feel cosier.
Sprucing Up Your Outdoor Space
No matter where you live, the outdoor space has become much more valuable due to COVID; maximising the usability and appearance of your outdoor space is a great way to add value and be more inclined to use the garden. Whether it’s adding shade or rain covers, heating areas, garden sofas, creating your own personal jungle is a great way to escape the indoors.
