Make It Feel Like School
One of the best things you can do to ensure that your children are actually going to take it seriously is to do everything you can to make it feel like school at home, at least during the school hours that you have set – which may or may not be the same school hours as normal. Decide On A Schedule
You have to work out what you think is going to work when it comes to the schedule. Of course, it is important to ensure that you are providing your children with enough education, but you don’t want to overwork them, especially during this strange and stressful time. Try to find a good balance – and bear in mind that you can always tweak it as you go along as you see fit. But deciding on some schedule upfront is going to mean that you are much more likely to stick to it and that you and your children are going to take it that much more seriously.
Learn The Material Yourself
In order to effectively and reliably teach a particular kind of material, you do need to make sure that you are fully aware yourself of what it is and what it means. That might mean that you need to spend some time first of all getting to grips with the material so that you can more effectively teach it later on to your kids. If necessary, do that beforehand so you know what you are going to do – and so you can develop a teaching plan for going through it as well. This is absolutely going to make a huge difference to how well you feel the homeschooling is going, and how well they are learning what they need to learn.
