Not everyone likes to wear makeup on their eyes. It could be that the already delicate skin around them is too sensitive, or that they just prefer to be more natural. This does not mean that your eyes cannot look good though, as there are lots of things you can do to make them stand out. Here are just a few of the tips to get your eyes noticed for the right reasons.
Get Enough Sleep
Having a good nights sleep will help to make your eyes sparkle rather than look puffy and dull. The skin around the eyes is very thin and the effects of a lack of sleep will show all the effects of being tired. Sleeping on two pillows helps to reduce puffiness, as any excess fluid will drain from your face overnight. Gently massaging the skin around your eyes can help with this as well.
Use A Good Night Cream
You might need a bit of trial and error till you find the best cream for your eyes. Generally, you need something with moisturisers in and preferably containing vitamin E too. Steer clear of creams that are too greasy or waxy as these can trap dead skin cells and cause milia, which is tiny white bumps around your eyes.
Reduce Salt Intake
Too much salt in your diet can make your body retain water and make you appear bloated. This shows in your eyes as well as everywhere else. Reduce the intake of salt to stop this happening, especially for a day or two before a special occasion.
Alcohol and artificial sweeteners are also bad for your skin, including the skin around your eyes.
Glasses That Do Not Hide Your Eyes
It is very easy to hide your eyes behind spectacles. The opposite should happen though, glasses should enhance your eyes not make them disappear. At places like Glasses 2 You there is a huge range many of which will show off your eyes instead of hiding them. Some frames will even help to draw more attention to your prettiest feature.
It is usually in comedy films that you see someone sitting back with two slices of cucumber on their eyes, but it does really work. The cucumber refreshes the skin around your eyes and makes them look brighter.
Wear The Right Colours
The colour clothes you wear can make the colour of your eyes stand out more. For instance, dark blues will make blue eyes look a deeper shade of blue, and green eyes can be enhanced by wearing purple, green navy blue, deep brown or pale yellow. Brown eyes are best with peach like colours, light brown lavender, gold or moss green.
The colour of your hair can also affect how your eyes look. Dark shades will make light eyes look brighter, while lighter hair can do wonders for darker eyes.
Shape Your Eyebrows
You can shape your eyebrows, curl your eyelashes, use eye drops if they become dry, and do many other things to make your eyes look good without a spot of makeup touching them anywhere. It might mean taking a little more effort, but you might consider that worthwhile to be eye makeup-free.
