I design a lot of logos for myself and others too, I usually use a paid for program that meets all my needs but when I was contacted and asked if I would like to try DesignEvo, a free online logo maker, I just had to check it out.
So what is DesignEvo?
DesignEvo is a free and easy to use logo making program. You do not need to download it or register, just go on the website and click ‘Make a Logo’. There are 4000+ templates in different categories to use. Over 100 fonts and icons available to use and all of the logos are fully customisable to get your own unique look.
As I had just started as a consultant for The Body Shop At Home and needed a new Facebook page and group cover and logo I thought this program may just be something I could use as I was in a bit of a creative block when using my other program. In fact my creative block went even deeper as I really didn’t know what to call my ‘brand’.
I ended up writing a list of everything I liked, names I liked and went with it. Finally I had a brand name that was different and I was happy so I went to the DesignEvo website to make myself a logo.
The website is very easy to navigate around, you can choose any of the available templates or start from scratch.
Now I knew what my brand name was going to be it make it a lot easier to choose a design I liked, I typed the keyword ‘diamond’ into the search bar and a lot of ready made logo templates came up and it gave me a good idea from there what I wanted for my logo. I didn’t want a ready made one as other people may use the same one so I decided to start from scratch.
I chose the icon, diamond shaped and changed the colour to pink. Then chose the font and colour for the company name and slogan parts. It took about half an hour if that for me to come up with my perfect logo.
The next step was to download the logo. Now there are 3 options for this;
- FREE – Low resolution files, PNG with background
- BASIC – Max resolution 5000 x 5000px, PNG with transparent background, lifetime support, print ready, edit and re-download. This costs £14.76 ($19.99 USD) one time fee
- PLUS – Max resolution 5000 x 5000px, PNG with transparent background, lifetime support, print ready, edit and re-download, Vector and SVG files, raw right to register as trademark. This costs £29.53 ($39.99 USD) one time fee.
I was given the BASIC package to review which I am glad of as I needed a PNG image with a transparent background.
The good thing about this package is that I can go back into the image and redesign it if needs be and I can then re-download it again without any more charges.
Here is my final logo which I am so pleased with, it is very simple but I prefer clean and simple rather than a cluttered logo.
Would I recommend DesignEvo? Yes I most definitely would, it is great for many types of people, they have a package to suit everyone from novices to professionals and it is really a good price for the end images. It also saves a lot of time waiting for someone else to design something for you.
