We always put our Christmas decorations up the first Sunday of December. This afternoon it was time to dig out the tree and decorations. I did have my reservations on putting fairly quickly. But Zander too as he touches everything so we had visions of the tree coming down by him too.
Rog got the boxes out and popped on the Christmas album and we had a little dance around while setting the tree up. Zander was very helpful, he kept coming up to the tree branches and trying to fluff them up.
Lights and tinsel on the tree it was time to add the decorations and this is where the fun started for Zander. He absolutely loved grabbing the baubles, snowflakes icicles and putting them on the tree. I did the top of the tree, he did the bottom of the tree.
He didn’t help me last year as I put the tree up when he was in bed but he totally enjoyed every bit of it today. Even when I found 3 baubles on one branch and took 2 of them off he was happy to put them elsewhere. He did pretty well, to be honest.
We do have a few special decorations for the tree. Father Christmas is very old, my Nan gave me this for my first Christmas tree when I was 18 years old but it was on her tree when I was a child too so it is getting on a bit.
I also made these ‘baubles’ with the kid’s names on, there is one with Tiffany on it as well, which is also on the tree.
What did I forget though? Chocolates and candy canes. I am getting them tomorrow so we can add them to the tree then. How many chocolates will go on the tree? I am fairly sure not all of them will make it.
When do you put your tree up?
