We were contacted by hellobabydirect and asked if we would like to review one of their products, they have a great range including Koo-di, Pink Lining, Purflo, The Little Green Sheep, Casdon, Melissa & Doug and Janod. After an extensive look, I just had to choose a Casdon Henry Vacuum Cleaner as my 3-year-old son loves to play with my Hetty and I know he would love a special toy Henry Hoover of his own.

It arrived in a medium square box and upon opening it up, I was glad that there weren’t lots of small pieces to fit together.

Taking it out of the box and lifting the top of the Henry Vacuum Cleaner off, all the utensils, hose and fittings were slotting into special holes for them. The only thing that was loose was the little piece of plastic that fits on the top to reel the cord in.
I fitted the cord reeler part on the top and put the hose and tubes together and put the ‘T’ shaped nozzle at the end of the tube and it was done. It was really easy to put together. It does require 4 x C batteries which are fitted at the underside of Henry. The batteries are purely for the suction as it does really suck up very small pieces of paper, it is not a hard suction but it is a novelty for kids, and there is a drawer at the bottom that you can pull out and empty. You turn this on and off, not on the red and green buttons at the top, there is a red button on the side of bottom half which presses and depresses to turn it on and off.

The design of the Henry Vacuum Cleaner is an exact mini replica of a real one, from the cute little face to the buttons on the top. Although I have a Hetty they are pretty much the same apart from colour and eyelashes but comparing the two the toy is remarkable. The only difference really is that the tubes coming down from the hose are clear and not black like mine, but I think this is so children can see what they are sucking up with it.
The only thing I am wary of is that the tubes don’t feel like they will take much pressure and with a boisterous 3-year-old but so far they are okay. They do keep slipping off though so I will be reinforcing them with a bit of tape around the joints to keep them together.

My son absolutely loves it, as I knew he would, as soon as I attempt to get my hoover out now he will get his out and follow me around hovering. It is really cute to see.
If your child is fascinated with your hoover this is definitely something to consider getting them. Especially with the suction, it makes it feel more real for them seeing pieces going up the tubes.
The Casdon Henry Vacuum Cleaner costs around £25 and would make a great Christmas or birthday present for a young child. It is suitable for ages 3 and over.
