Don’t you hate it when you have put your keys down somewhere and then you are in a rush to go out you cannot find them? They are never where you think they would be, the kids or husband sometimes move them and don’t tell you where they are. I have this problem a lot.
I was asked if I would like to review a device called Beets BLU Key Finder which is a small Bluetooth device that connects to your mobile phone or tablet with an app. The device is like a pager that you can slip onto your keyring or any other valuables that you have a habit of misplacing and you will be able to relocate it easily by using the Beets BLU app to find it.
The main functions are;
- Sound alarm in case of link loss which is around 33 feet/10 meters.
- Remote commands accessible on the key fob button press
- Geo regions actions (iOS only)
- Time-based alarm suspension (Android only)
- Lost location tracking (detection on smartphone)
- Proximity detection with automatic sound alert.
The key finder is operated by a CR2025 battery which has a life of about a year. It is also water resistant.
I attached the key finder to my keyring and set up the app as directed, including linking the fob with my mobile phone via Bluetooth.
I pressed the fob button until it beeped on and left it to do it’s thing.
There were several times that the fob went off on its own with loud beeping, I think this was because it lost its link or something but not quite sure as they keys were not far from my phone, probably 2 meters at the most. This was particularly annoying especially when it started beeping in the middle of the night. I did try the fob out and got my husband to hide my keys somewhere in the house and not telling me where they were and it did do what it should do, I opened the app on my phone and pressed the button to locate my keys and as it is a loud noise it was easy to find them.
I think this is a great idea but, the annoying beep alarm that kept happening did get a bit tiresome, in the end I just turned it off and made sure I put my keys in my bag every time I used them.
I would probably give it a 3/5 due to the random beeping. It was well made though and does do what it should if you can tolerate the alarm going off randomly.
