We all need a relaxing holiday every once in a while. One that’s free of stress, lots of lazy days in the sun and plenty of reading.
However, your stress levels can soon skyrocket before you even get there, particularly when it comes to packing and planning things for this break. If you’re anything like me, you’ll take your entire holiday wardrobe in and out of your suitcase numerous times before declaring that you need an entirely new one!
So, if you booked a holiday by the pool with the likes of Villa Plus, here’s your checklist for the most relaxing getaway possible:

-
Several Books
One of the best ways to relax and unwind on holiday is to get stuck into a great book or two. They take you to faraway places and help you stop thinking about everything else that’s going on around you.
Yet, so many of us don’t indulge ourselves in this great pastime because we’re too busy and only find time to read in bed (where we only tend to get through several pages before we fall asleep).
So use this holiday as an opportunity to read those latest novels you’ve been desperate to get your hands on.
-
Ditch the Itinerary
If you’re travelling somewhere new this year, you’ll likely want to see and do as much as possible. However, it’s important not to put too much pressure on yourself to get everything done in one trip.
Having a rigorous itinerary in place is only going to make things more stressful and less relaxing. You need to go with the flow and do what takes your fancy at that moment in time.
Of course, do your research and pencil in a few things, but don’t stress if you don’t tick everything off.

-
Eat and Drink What You Like
Another stressful aspect about our holidays is feeling as though we have to watch what we eat and drink. But how boring is that?
Everything in moderation is recommended, of course, but you should still be able to indulge in that extra dessert or glass of wine without feeling guilty.
Plus, even expert nutritionists suggest that overindulging is good for your health – yes, really! Having that time off from diets and exercise can make us feel more focused when we get back from our hols and it can boost your mental health because you’re not stressing over things too much.

Take the Stress Out of Travelling
Finally, to really get the most out of this holiday, be sure to plan ahead so the journey itself is as stress-free as possible. This means checking in online beforehand, booking quick transfers (even if they cost a little more), researching things thoroughly so you know the best places to eat, and putting together a packing checklist that you can stick to.
Armed with all of the above, you should soon be enjoying a blissfully relaxing holiday like never before.

A book beside the pool of a private villa sounds like absolute heaven to me right now!
