I was tagged by Steph over at Mental Parentals to join in with The Mummy Tag, I haven’t done a tag post for a long while and since I am a mummy again this was perfect.
Are you a stay-at-home or a working Mum?
I’m a stay-at-home mum, my son is only 6 weeks old. Does my blog count as working though?
Would you have it any other way?
Most definitely not, I love being at home and witnessing all of the milestones and would be absolutely gutted if someone else got to see them before me. Some days are more difficult than others, when the baby doesn’t settle, and even going to the toilet is a no go. But no I wouldn’t have it any other way
Do you co-sleep?
No, I did with my first and she didn’t sleep in her own bed on her own until she was almost 8 it was a nightmare, so I didn’t do it with my second daughter and not doing it with my son either.
My Newborn must-have?
I would say my must have is definitely the Prep Machine. I know it is frowned upon by many people but it is a life saver when you have a screaming baby wanting to fed, like mine who has a meltdown within seconds of waking for a bottle. It is so quick. Also lots of muslin squares/burp cloths, we get through loads.
How many kids do you plan on having?
I have 3 now, 2 girls and a boy. Before I had children I wanted 5, but as it took 8 and a half years to fall pregnant with my son and my age I don’t think we will be having any more, but miracles happen so maybe 1 more if we are blessed with more.
Date Night – How often?
We don’t have a date night, we used to have a movie night before the baby was born but at the moment we go to bed early as night feeds are still very regular. I think once the baby is sleeping through the night we will have our movie nights again. Once a week or every 2 weeks.
What’s your child’s favourite TV show?
My 9 year old loves Spongebob and The Loud House, these are the programs she will put on most of the time. The baby doesn’t have any favourites yet. I’m sure it won’t be long before he wants Nick Jr or Disney Junior on.
What’s one thing you bought for your newborn and never used?
One thing? try many newborn baby clothes, as the baby was big and long he never fitted in them. We did have the same problem with my daughter when she was born too. We got a changing table for her too that was never used. Although I wish we had kept that for this baby as I had a c section it was tough trying to change his nappy and dress him while bending over the bed.
Child’s favourite food?
The baby is all about the milk. My 9 year olds favourite food is cheese apparently. She likes most food though apart from tomatoes.
How many cars does your family have?
Just the one, a Renault Megane, yes the shaking its ass one 😉
It’s quite roomy inside for a smaller car and is cheap to run and tax. It’s a 5 door too so quick and easy to get the kids in and out of the car.
Weight Gain – Before, During and After Pregnancy
I was quite heavy before falling pregnant, like so overweight BMI of 32! Which made me high risk in pregnancy and had to have GTT which concluded I had Gestational Diabetes. I had to watch what I ate from then on and actually started to lose a bit of weight during the pregnancy. Considering I also had polyhydramnios (way too much amniotic fluid)I should have been quite heavy by the end of the pregnancy. But I only put on 15lbs.
After having him I lost quite a bit of weight. In fact I over a stone lighter than I was pre-pregnancy.
What’s your dream family holiday?
My daughter would say Disney World which would be lovely when the baby is bigger so he could enjoy it too. She also loves Butlins. I would say anywhere that caters for kids of all ages would be nice.
What’s your dream holiday without the kids?
The Maldives or the Caribbean would definitely be my dream holiday.
How has life changed since having kids?
I have been a mum for 19 years, so it seems like I have been a mum forever. I think the spontaneity of going out without planning babysitters and things like that has changed. My circle of friends has also changed. But that is life with kids, things change but it’s definitely for the better.
Finish the sentence – It makes my heart melt when…
…my baby boy smiles at me.
…my children tell me they love me.
Where do I shop for my kids?
Next, Vertbaudet, Tesco, New Look and Asda.
What’s your favourite makeup and skincare?
Love my Eye of Horus Mascara, Foundation would be Max Factor 2 in 1 Elixir. Eyeshadow is Younique palettes, as is my primer and lipstain. Skincare has to be my Magnitone.
Huggies or Pampers
Pampers nappies, they don’t sell Huggies baby nappies any more. I don’t like either of their wipes though.
Have you always wanted kids?
Yes. I have 4 siblings and love it, we are so close.
Best thing about being a Mum?
The unconditional love, the cuddles, the smiles, the milestones…everything.
