Sometimes I will be looking around the internet and happen across something from my childhood, an item, a song or a tv show and the reminiscing kicks in…I remember having sleepovers at my grandparents’ house when I was young and they had a video (yep it was that far back!) of The Care Bears, my brother and I watched it a lot. Now I am a great deal older but Care Bears are still around and when we were contacted asking if we would like to review a Care Bear of course I accepted, it was a chance to show my children something that was around back in the day even though they are ‘new’ to them.
We were sent a Basic Fun Care Bears Birthday Bear to review, my son was so excited as it is his birthday soon, rather than him seeing it and keeping it away from him until his birthday I thought we could have a Teddy Bears Picnic with Birthday Bear celebrating his birthday with a special guest making an appearance too.
Inside the card, it says “Birthday Bear wants everyone to love their birthday! Besides birthday cake she loves giving cards and presents!”
The Care Bears Birthday Bear is 16 inches tall, a lovely bright yellow colour, she is made with a super soft plush material making her so cuddly and you will find yourself just wanting to rub your hand over her whenever you encounter her.
She has a party hat on her head, ready for a party and a unique glitter cupcake badge that is raised on her tummy.
Birthday Bear has embroidered hearts on each paw and a Care Bears heart button on her bottom.
She has a special collector’s care coin which includes a way to share your care by showing others how much you care out loud, say it, show it, share it!
But I think what makes her so unique is that she is scented, yes that’s right, she smells of vanilla cupcake frosting! It is not a super strong scent and is so pleasant, I can’t stop sniffing her.
We decided to have a small Teddy Bears picnic, we would have invited more bears but with lockdown we were limited to six guests.

Birthday Bear even had one of her best friends join her, Love-A-Lot Bear which was a huge surprise to her. They enjoyed their picnic immensely.
But what Birthday Bear loves best is cuddles!
There are a few Care Bears to collect including Grumpy Bear, Funshine Bear, Tenderheart Bear and of course Birthday Bear which is a brand new character from the Basic Fun Care Bears range and is available to purchase from Amazon.
