Unfortunately the heat wave has gone and it has turned a lot cooler with a lot of rain. Who owns an umbrella? I did, several in fact one for each of the family apart from Zander but I could only find my Skye’s one, it seems the umbrella fairy had taken them away during the summer or my husband binned them when he was “tidying up”.
We were gifted 3 umbrellas from Susino and I was able to choose which ones out of a huge range I would like. One for me, one for my husband and one for Zander.
Well of course with Zander being really into “di doors” (dinosaurs) I just had to choose the Colourful Dinosaur Clear Dome umbrella. It has lots of different coloured dinosaurs on it with dinosaur footprints too. It has a blue crook handle as opens manually.
It is very good quality, I did give this a test in the wind and it remained sturdy, no buckling of the frame and it did not try to blow inside out.
I particularly like the dome shaped umbrellas for smaller children as it takes time for them to get to grips with using an umbrella. Having the crook handle makes it easier for them to hold and being a clear dome (apart from the dinosaurs around it) they can see through the umbrella so they do not walk into things or trip because it’s covering their eyes.
For my husband I chose the Wind Resistant Black Gentleman’s Walking umbrella. What I liked about this is it has a 108cm canopy so plenty big enough for a man, it is black so he will use it. It has a soft rubber crook handle and is automatic opening. It also has a Lightweight Aluminium & Fibreglass frame.
I find the walking umbrellas are much better when it is windy as you can still use them and they do not blow inside out. I have tested this out with the wind and it stayed put, no buckling of the frame at all. Although it says wind resistant that does not mean wind proof so if you are planning to use this umbrella in gales it may not fair so well.
My husband likes the colour and design of the umbrella, he liked the automatic opening, one less thing for him to do. It is big enough to cover him and protect most of his body from the rain and he likes the handle because it is a soft rubber it is easier to grip.
For myself I chose the Rainbow Coloured Walking umbrella. Now I would usually go for a plain colour, normally black for an umbrella but why not add some colour into my life, especially when its dull and raining.
There are 16 different colours on this umbrella and it has a 95cm canopy, it is manual opening and has a lightweight frame. It has a black crook handle and is easy to grip when using. On the website it doesn’t state whether this umbrella is wind resistance but I did test it as I did with all of the umbrellas and it withstood the wind, no buckling of the frame and did not blow inside out.
Obviously this is my favourite umbrella because it is mine but I love the colours, they are cheerful and if looking at it doesn’t put you in a happier mood I don’t know what would. It is easy to use, yes it is manual opening but that really is not a problem, it takes 2 seconds to put it up and take it down again.
The large canopy protects a large portion of me from getting wet and I could quite easily squeeze Zander under it with me with no problem.
All of the umbrella when folded have the stand at the bottom, reminds me of walking sticks, they do not take up much room. We usually hand them on the coat hooks when dry and stand them in the utility room when wet until they have dried out.
I am very impressed with the Susino umbrellas, not only are they very well made and look really nice but they are all a good price. I will be getting Skye her own one very soon but she can’t decide which one she wants as there are so many different ones to choose from.
