I am sure you have seen someone on a mission to clean their house from top to bottom, or make everything shine or maybe they just wash their hands a lot but maybe put more effort in that cleaning and you have joked about them having OCD. I know I have and when thinking back upon it I feel quite guilty as I know more about mental health illnesses and OCD is a mental health illness that can actually take over someone’s life.

I think the infographic above helps a little into understanding Obsessive Compulsive Disorder a little more but there is also a lot more that you can learn.
I knew that a lot of OCD sufferers check things a lot more than someone without the illness but I didn’t know that hoarding can be part of an OCD sufferers life too.
I know next time I see someone that maybe washes their hands a lot, hoard, or like to keep their ornaments in symmetrical balance I will not make fun out of them as this can make them anxious and embarrassed about it leading them to not seek help from medical professionals.
It is a mental illness and needs to be treated as such and a little compassion from friends and family could really help them.
