When I was asked if I would like to review the Milton Solo Travel Steriliser I had to say yes, especially after the flap we got in a couple of weeks ago when we were caught in a situation where we had no way of sterilising a bottle and a very hungry baby. I could have really used the travel steriliser right then, and not wanting to be caught out like that again it was a no brainer.
The travel steriliser is quite small, it can sterilise one bottle at a time, and can be used in two ways, the cold water method and the microwave method. The cold water method is simple. Add the washed bottle to the steriliser, fill with cold water up to the 1.25ml line add 1 quarter of a Milton Sterilising Tablet or if you are using Milton Sterilising Fluid then 7.5ml. Screw the lid on, press the safety vent down and shake the steriliser gently. After 15 minutes the bottle is ready to be used.
If you cannot wait 15 minutes and have a microwave in the vicinity then definitely try the microwave method which again is so simple. Just wash the bottle, pour 60ml of water into the steriliser, put the bottle into the steriliser with the bottle opening facing down, screw the lid on, press the safety vent down. Place the travel steriliser upright in the microwave if it fits that way, if not the place it on its side and microwave it for the instructed amount of time which it states on the box and on the leaflet. Depending on the power of your microwave your bottle can be sterilised in as little as 2 minutes and at most 6 minutes.
This really could be a life saver when you have a baby screaming for a bottle especially as it only takes a couple of minutes to sterilise.
It has unique safety vent technology to increase the temperature inside the Solo for better sterilisation. Bottles or whatever you are sterilising will stay sterile for 24 hours after the initial sterilising process and it is BPA free.
I have tried both methods and they are both so quick and easy, I think the travel steriliser is a fabulous idea and after the fiasco we had at my mums the other week I did not want to be caught out like that again and so as we spend the most time at my mums at the moment the travel steriliser is taken there every time, along with extra baby milk. It saves us having to rush off if we have used the bottles already for baby to be fed and we don’t have to keep an eye on the time so much either.
I would recommend the Milton Solo Travel Steriliser to mums whether you are needing to sterilise a bottle, soothers or other small items that need sterilising.
