I am always looking for healthier cereals that will keep my energy level up but to also keep be satisfied until lunchtime.
I was asked if I would like to try Keep Me Going cereal from Freedom Cereals LTD, and after having a read of what they were I agreed.
Keep Me Going is whole grain barley and oat pillows which helps release energy and reduce tiredness. It has a Glycaemic Index of 50. It also has reduced sugar, low fat and high fibre and is made from a wheat-free recipe. There are added vitamins of C, E, B6, B12, B1 and B2 and of course there are no artificial colours or preservatives.
Looking at the box the pillows looked a light colour, when pouring into my bowl they were a bit darker in colour but this didn’t matter.
I was eager to try these and so was my husband and so the next morning we each had a bowl for breakfast especially as it was quite low on calories (118.2 calories per 30g serving).

I found that they were what I would expect from a typical low salt, reduced sugar healthy breakfast. I could taste the barley and oats and that is all I could taste. The pillows do not seem to soak up the milk, this is a thing I like as I hate eating soggy cereal. My husband didn’t like this though as he likes soggy cereal. He didn’t seem too keen on Keep Me Going at all. I would put that down to the fact he is so used to sugary cereals.
My thoughts are that this is a cereal that is exactly what it says on the front of the box. I liked the non sogginess and the taste was nice too.
It did keep me satisfied until lunchtime and therefore I am happy with them.
Keep Me Going cereal is available at Ocado now.
