We were sent some vouchers to buy, bake and review Jus-Rol Bake-It-Fresh Dough so armed with vouchers I headed to the supermarket.
After taking a look at the range available in our local supermarket the whole family decided we should try Croissants, Pain au Chocolat and Apple Danish. There is enough dough and other ingredients that might be needed for 6 of each pastry.
The first we made was the 6 Apple Danish. Wow these are so easy to make it is unreal. Inside the box was the dough already rolled and placed in a container that is a cardboard tube with tin top and bottom. There is also a small pot of apple sauce at the bottom of the box. The container is opened by a little twisting and out comes the dough.
Unroll the dough and break at the perforations, fold in the corners and push the folds down.
Spoon a teaspoon of apple sauce on to the top of each Apple Danish, brush with egg and put in the oven for around 12 minutes. It really is that quick and simple.
After 12 minutes out they come and they looked delicious.
They tasted really nice too and it wasn’t long before we all had devoured them all.
The Pain au Chocolat is also in the same style container and in this box there was also some dark chocolate sticks. We again unrolled the dough and pulled it apart at the perforations.
We then added a stick of chocolate to each end of the dough and rolled half way in on each side so each roll met then turned it upside down. We did this to all 6, brushed them with egg and again popped them in the oven for 12 minutes.
And here are the finished Pain au Chocolat’s.
The kids loved these in fact they ate two each leaving my husband and I with just the one each 🙁
I wasn’t sure if I would like these as I had never tried them before, but they were really tasty, the chocolate adds that little something extra. I really liked them.
Finally Sunday morning came and my oldest daughter asked if we could have the Croissants for breakfast and that she would make them after seeing how easy the other two were to make.
These again were in the same style container, and the dough was already perforated. All my daughter had to do was pull them where the perforations were, roll them and shape them to crescent moon shapes, brush with egg and pop in the oven.
They did look gorgeous when they came out of the oven and I couldn’t help but try one almost straight away with a bit of butter inside. Mmm they were so tasty and it made a lovely change to have Croissants. Both the kids and my husband loved them too.
I am impressed with Jus-Rol for bringing these out, a lot of people cannot make or do not like making pastry and this takes all the effort out of it. It is also fantastic for people that cannot cook because these are so simple anyone can make them and even those that just do not have the time to make from scratch.
They were all absolutely perfect and at a reasonable price too. I would definitely recommend these as they product a fantastic and tasty result every time.
