Don’t you just hate it when you make ice cubes in an ice cube tray or with the bags and your ice cubes vanish in a matter of minutes especially in the hot weather? Yes me too. Sometimes they don’t even make the drink any colder and all I yearn for on a hot summers day is a nice cold drink.
That is where the Ice Ball Maker comes in, I applied to review it a few weeks ago and was accepted and I couldn’t wait to try it out.
The Ice Ball maker is made from black silicone which is dishwasher safe. It is 100% BPA free and FDA material approved and they even throw in a Lifetime money back guarantee!
It creates four 4.5cm Ice balls, which are roughly the size of golf balls and is really easy to use.
Simply wash the ice tray before use. Pop the bottom of the tray on a flat surface and then fill it with water or whatever liquid you choose three quarters full. Slowly place the top tray onto the bottom try until the water comes out of the top four holes. Put the tray in the freezer and allow to free for 4-6 hours depending on how cold your freezer is.
When you are ready to use twist the tray on all four sizes to break up the ice balls from each other. Take the top tray off and take as many ice balls as you want to use.
I have used this several times since receiving it, the first couple of times with water and then I got a bit more adventurous and used orange fruit juice, blackcurrant juice, cranberry juice depending on what I was drinking at the time.
The ice balls are large and make the drinks cold very quickly. They do not melt as quick as the other ice cubes I have made. This is probably due to the size, but they are there for a long while slowing melting away.
I really like my Ice Ball Maker, It would be better to have a larger tray with more than four slots of Ice Balls but then again I think with a small tray of four it is easier to find the space in the freezer for it. I will definitely be buying another though so the whole family can have a couple of ice balls in their drink at the same time.
Overall I think this is a great product. The silicone seems very durable and I think it will last a long while.
