Earlier this year I decided that I wanted to change my hair colour. I had brown hair but wanted to lighten it up and decided it was time for a trip to the salon. I ended up with full head highlights in blonde and brown which I loved for a while but then I got to thinking maybe it would look better all blonde. This time I used a home kit and bleached my hair iced platinum and again loved it but the problem that I had was after just two days after bleaching it there was very noticeable root growth at a guess I would say about 5mm and because of this I was doing my roots every two weeks as they looked hideous and it was costing me a small fortune.
I was getting fed up with the constant dying/bleaching and as it was already blonde I thought why not go for a dramatic change.
I decided to go with the new Schwarzkopf Live XXL Ultra Bright’s in Pillarbox Red which is a semi permanent colour which should last between 4-8 washes.
When I took it out of the box it was just a tube of colour along with gloves, instructions and conditioner two sachets of conditioner. It reminded me of tomato puree, it looked the same and had the same texture.
Applying it was really easy, I followed the instructions and at the end of the treatment my hair was ultra bright pillarbox red and I absolutely loved it.
A few days later my hair needed washing so I washed it as you do, and as expected with red hair there was colour run. I then towel dried my hair and once it had dried and I looked in the mirror i was very disappointed the red had faded and not just a little it looked like a regular red hair dye after a month to six weeks really faded to a brown/pink/orange. i knew it was semi permanent but I was expecting the colour to last for more than one wash.
What an absolute waste of money. I am gutted that it has faded this quick especially when it costs the same amount as XXL Live’s permanent colour.
I know one thing for sure now, if I want super bright hair in the future I will be buying La Riche Directions it is cheaper and lasts longer!
