We love Frankie and Bennys and was delighted to be asked to visit them again to try their new specials menu. As it was a meal for 2 I thought it would be nice to go with my husband just him and me for a change as we don’t really get alone time together having a 6 year old and a teenager.
As soon as we went into the restaurant we were seated and were given menus. The staff was as polite and cheery as always. I don’t think I have ever seen any of the staff unhappy. The atmosphere is great, like an American diner with old music playing it makes me feel like I have gone back in time every time I go there.
I decided to have the Ranch Burger which is a 6oz grilled beef burger served in a toasted sesame seed bun, with crispy grilled bacon, gem lettuce, tomato and red onion topped with a cooling ranch dressing. Served with house fries and tomato-chilli relish on the side.
I really like this, I love burgers anyway but not had a Ranch burger before so didn’t really know what the dressing would taste like. It was delicious and I liked how they were very generous with the dressing. The burger was huge and it was really filling.
My husband and the BBQ Burger which is a 6oz grilled beef burger served in a toasted sesame seed bun, with crispy grilled bacon, gem lettuce, mayo, tomato and red onion, topped with our tangy BBQ sauce. Served with house fries and tomato-chilli relish on the side. So pretty much the same as mine but with BBQ sauce. I could tell that he was enjoying immensely. He said he also liked that they were generous with the sauce as he could dip his fries in it too.
For dessert I had Banoffee Brownie which is warm chocolate brownies with slices of fresh banana. Served with our real dairy toffee ice cream, topped with salt caramel sauce, toffee crumb and lashings of cream.
Now this was divine. The chocolate brownie pieces were indeed warm and the toffee ice cream which was cold complimented the brownie perfectly added to that the freshly sliced banana with salted caramel sauce, toffee crumb and lots of cream I couldn’t have asked for a better dessert. It was presented beautifully and I loved each and every spoonful.
My husband chose the Mint Choc Waffle, which is cinnamon waffle topped with mint chocolate chip ice cream, warm chocolate fudge sauce and chocolate honeycomb. This looked so yummy I was tempted to order one for myself after my first dessert. He really enjoyed this as he loves mint choc chip ice cream anyway but he said the waffle was a really nice addition to the ice cream and he really liked the warm chocolate fudge sauce and chocolate honeycomb.
We both really enjoyed our meal, it was nice to go out together as a couple and the meal was fantastic.
