At the next consultant appointment we had the consultant suggested that I should have a HSG which basically is you go to theatre and have dye released into your womb and they see if it goes up your fallopian tubes or not. This worried me as you never know what your insides are doing and I was sure that would be the problem.
The date was scheduled on my oldest daughter’s birthday and I knew when she was leaving for school that she was worried about me as I had a dozen texts before my appointment and she gave me a cuddle before she left which is very unlike her.
I was scared about this procedure as I had heard different stories from others who had the same things done but there was no need to worry. The procedure itself was not painful at all, it felt like I had a mild period pain and once it was over with there was no discomfort at all.
We were told at the next consultant appointment that there were no blockages and he suggested another three cycles of clomid with monitoring and HCG trigger shots again.
At one of the appointments while being monitored I got slightly worried when the nurse spotted a cyst on one of my ovaries and it was considerably large as I thought both ovaries were side by side until she said it wasn’t and started printing off images of it and then went to get the consultant. The consultant came in and just said to monitor it and continued my treatment.
On our last cycle of clomid my period did not come when it was supposed to, I had faint positive pregnancy tests, they never got any darker, we were getting excited and then 8 days later I started bleeding. Words cannot express the heartache it bought. To finally get those two special lines and it to be whipped away a week later, we both were so deflated.
We saw the consultant again and were told that there was nothing else the NHS could do for us and were sent on our way.
We decided to stop trying for a while, to give my body a rest from drugs and try and to try and get our minds clear from everything that had gone on for the last two years as I was at the point where I couldn’t look at pregnant women, seeing people with babies, and if I so much as held a baby I knew I would breakdown and cry so I avoided it all.
After a while and when I was in a better frame of mind we started talking about going to a private clinic to see what our options are. I rang the clinic to make an appointment and when I mentioned my age, 33, five months off 34 I was told that I should not wait much longer as their cut off was 35.
We saw the consultant 3 weeks later.
To Be Continued…
I’m intrigued, can’t wait for you to continue with this.
I had clomid in order to conceive my second child as I have PCOS. I now have six children but I’ve had almost twenty pregnancies altogether, sadly most ending in miscarriage. I’m more than happy with what I have now but it’s been a tough journey at times.
