If you’re looking for a great value family holiday then a holiday or caravan park is a great choice. The most important thing about choosing a family holiday venue is making sure that the kids are going to enjoy it, as that means the parents will too.
The majority of caravan parks UK consumers will be looking at booking will have changed greatly since they were the kids. For a start the facilities are much better than they used to be. Not only are there things like indoor heated swimming pools and great adventure playgrounds, but there is often also a kids’ club, so some of the time you’re there, the kids are being entertained by someone else!
And the range of accommodation has changed a lot too. If you went camping in the eighties, you’d usually be in a tent, but now, although you can still take your own tent with you, you can now choose to stay in a holiday park mobile home or holiday lodge, where you obviously get a lot higher standard of accommodation – flushing loos and everything! Holiday lodges are the most luxurious accommodation – with en-suite bathrooms, fully fitted kitchens and spacious living areas, but you can reduce the budget by choosing a mobile home instead.
But while you can enjoy greater levels of comfort than on a traditional campsite, the costs are kept reasonable as you are sharing the facilities on site with other visitors. So the pool and evening entertainment is there for everyone. There’s something more convivial about staying on a site as well as you get to meet other people on your holiday – something which may not always happen if you stay in a private holiday cottage, where you may have more privacy but less in the way of entertainment.
Holiday parks may not be for every holiday maker, but if you’ve got a family and you’re on a budget, they’re certainly worth a try. You never know, you may start a new family holiday tradition with your first holiday park holiday!
