This book begins with single mother Anna, spotting several signs that her six-year-old daughter Libby was not well. It wasn’t the first time she has experienced the symptoms. Anna had taken her to the doctors several times before but no answers were given until Libby collapses and is taken to hospital. This is when she gets the devastating news, Libby has a rare kidney disorder and will need a kidney transplant.
To Save My Child had was a brilliant read, I was completely hooked from very early on and right through to the last page.
Anna was a very likeable character and a great mother who of course, wants her daughter to live and will do anything to save her, even if that means contacting Libby’s father Ryan, Anna’s emotionally abusive ex-husband!
As we live the life of Anna and Libby’s trips to the hospital for dialysis and appointments, having all the family tested to see if they can donate their kidney to save Libby, we get a glimpse into a true to life heartbreaking journey.
I don’t want to go into too much of the story because of spoilers but I will warn you to have a tissue handy as does get quite emotional in places.
I have read a couple of books by Emma Robinson now and each one of them has been remarkable. I look forward to reading more from her in the future.
Author Bio
Emma Robinson is the author of several women’s fiction novels. She also blogs about the funny side of parenting and has contributed to podcasts such as Funny Women. Whilst her early novels are humorous, her recent work focuses on emotional themes and these novels are both heart-breaking and life affirming. Emma enjoys writing stories which explore the power of family and friendship in the most challenging circumstances.
Emma currently lives in Essex with a husband, two children and a small black dog.
