Do you find that your WiFi doesn’t quite reach every corner of your home? Or that you had a USB socket that didn’t need a plug with it if you didn’t have a device available? Well, I have just the thing for you, men and women will love it, trust me, I do!
We received a BG WiFi Socket Range Extender with USB in white which we were eager to get it fitted so we could how well it worked so I had Roger fitting it the very next day in our kitchen where the Wi-Fi is a bit hit and miss.
Roger said “The WiFi socket was a doddle to fit, I isolated the power supply, undone the 2 screws that were during the socket plate and undone the wires at the back. Then replaced the wires into the correct points which are clearly marked. Screwed it back on the wall and reconnected the power supply. Then we were set to go”.

There is a Quick Installation Guide leaflet in the pack which gives wiring instructions and also how to set up the WiFi. We found this really simple to do and we saw a boost within a minute of setting it up. My phone was on 2 bar WiFi signal and dipping to 1 at times and as soon as it connected to the socket it raised it to full bars. Very impressed.
The USB port is central to the socket and since this socket has been fitted I don’t think I have ever seen it not in use, phones needing charging, tablets needing charging and other things too, it certainly is getting its use that’s for sure, and it also frees up the plug sockets which were used before now.
There are also 2 standard plug sockets on the socket too with switches on each plug to turn them on or off.
Overall we think the WiFi &USB socket is brilliant and we would highly recommend it to anyone who has WiFi dead spots in their home as it really does work.
The British General SP Switched Wi-Fi Extender Socket & Outlet USB Charger socket is available in white, brushed stainless steel, black nickel and polished chrome and can be purchased from the Screwfix website.
If we didn’t already have one I would definitely get one for one of Roger’s Christmas presents, especially as he seems to be the main user of it.
