We had been discussing getting a cat for a long while but the plan never resulted in actually getting one, just talking about it.
Rog wanted a Maine Coon cat originally, they are big, they will keep other cats away from our garden, but I wasn’t too keen to learn they brought gifts of ducks, pheasants and quite big things home.
Just on the off chance I was looking through the local Gumtree ads and came across a little beauty of a kitten and the next day I picked it up.
Meet Taz our little kitten of destruction.
We picked him up just over 2 weeks ago and he wasn’t a very happy kitten, which we knew he wouldn’t be, I mean who would when they had just been taken from their mother and placed into a house with TWO dogs. He was a scared little boy. The first day he spent in a dog crate, he felt safe there. I was worried we had done the wrong thing in homing him, would he settle?
The following day he didn’t want the crate anymore and was going kind of wild to get out of there. So we took the crate away and let him roam around. As soon as one of the dogs came sniffing that was it, Taz would hide behind the sofa and wouldn’t come out for a while. Then he would come out again and hide again. This occurred frequently over the next few days although every day he would get braver and stay out a bit longer.
Every time Peppa so much as looked at him he would spit at her, hiss or growl. She just wanted to play with him but they have not fought.
Fast forward to now, he is a different kitten, he has so much confidence, he darts around the house and always up to mischief. Taz is getting used to the dogs and will play with them now. He loves a cuddle and is such a gentle little thing.
Taz really has settled in nicely and is adored by us all.
