What a strange night we had last night. If you saw yesterdays post we were left without heating and hot water until the boiler person had come out to see what was wrong with it. They didn’t actually get her til gone 10am this morning so we were left with a very cold house over night.
Me being me was not going to sleep in a cold bed and so we had two duvets on the bed plus 2 hot water bottles. Did I mention it was cold? lol. My youngest also had 2 duvets and a water bottle. Thankfully my oldest was staying at her Nans house.
At 3.15am we were abruptly awoken by the smoke alarms going off which lead to a huge panic. Shouting at my husband “ROG FIRE” I have never seen him get out of bed to quick. I am not actually sure what he would achieve running around the house naked if there was an actual fire. while I was actually already walking around the house making sure everything was ok.Yes it was a false alarm but the bloody smoke detector is connected to the mains and went off again 10 minutes later…and again…and again.
It got to the point that my daughter woke up and started panicking and I was worried the neighbours may complain about it constantly going off for no reason so my husband disconnected the unit from the mains. Try doing that when you are half awake.
Anyway all was well the rest of the night/morning. We looked out of the window just before half 8 and saw this fantastic sight (see photo above). We finally got the snow. There wasn’t a lot and it has all gone now but my daughter’s face was a picture in itself she was so happy to see it.
In other news the boiler men did turn up and we still have no heating. The pump is broken and they have to order the part, the bad news is that it won’t be delivered to them until Friday or Monday so no heating apart from the coal fire until then.
We were also told that the boiler is meant to be serviced every year but it has not even been checked to make sure it was installed properly let alone serviced in the 5 years it has been here.
Let’s hope tonight is less eventful and we manage to get a good nights sleep.
