I love having daughters, I find that finding girls clothing that I actually like is much easier than finding things for boys, especially when it comes to buying for a baby.
There is just so much more choice for girls, they can wear dresses, skirts, trousers, leggings, shorts and boys really only the choice out of trousers or shorts depending on what season it is.
I came across a fantastic website called Melijoe that is a children’s clothing boutique and immediately I was impressed with the range of sizes they have as they cater from newborn to 16 years and all of the clothing seems to be really stylish and modern.
Having my 8 year old daughter sitting beside me while we had a browse there was a lot of items she said she would wear and not just things I thought were nice, she has her own mind and I do tend to let her choose a lot of her clothing now as she is quite conscious in what she is wearing, which is a sign that my little girl is growing up way too fast.
We usually play a subtle little game (for me but she is oblivious) when looking at clothing for her, I get her to choose some items that she would add to a wish list I then note them down and get them for her at a later date, for a gift, birthday or Christmas, whichever is nearer.
So we played our wish list game and I asked her to choose a set of pyjamas or a nightie, a dress, a top and a skirt or trousers, and this is what she decided on…
Tommy Hilfiger two-piece cotton pyjamas. She prefers to wear short sleeved nightwear and as the top is a vest top that is also hot pink, which is her favourite colour at the moment. She doesn’t like getting too hot in bed so the short bottoms are perfect. She can also wear it around the house and it would just look like top and shorts.
The dress she chose was the DERHY KIDS Hippy poplin dress, she has a thing for dresses that when she twirls they float up and this looks like it will do that. It is a light fabric and very pretty print in nice light colours. The spaghetti straps are perfect as she doesn’t like to be restricted in the arms and shoulders. It would be perfect for the summer time.
For the top she went for something that I thought was quite beautiful, she chose the PINKO UP Butterfly print modal T-shirt which is a silken stretch jersey t-shirt with a cross over patch at the bottom. It has a large butterfly to the front.
She would team this up with a pair of DESIGUAL Printed stretch jersey leggings, I think most of her trousers are actually leggings or jeggings as she will not wear jeans. These are a stretched jersey material and has an elastic stretchy waistband. What she particularly liked about these was the pattern around the bottom of the legs. They look way more stylish than plain black leggings.
So this is my daughter’s wish list and now I will be saving my pennies again so that I can gift her one or two bits from her list.
