I was nominated to do the Ice Bucket Challenge this week by my lovely daughter Tiff and I really didn’t want to do it to be honest the thought of ice cold water with ice cubes going over my head is not very appealing but after thinking long and hard I decided that I was going to do it.
I donated my money to two worthy causes though.
The first of course was MNDA (Motor Neurone Disease Association) which is the UK’s equivalent to ALS. You can read all about MNDA here. I am sure everyone has heard of Professor Stephen Hawkins who has this awful disease and although there is no cure as yet, symptoms can be managed to achieve the best possible quality of life for the sufferer.
I only knew of one person with this debilitating disease and I am sure most people will think of the same person as I do when were hear the words Motor Neurone Disease, Stephen Hawking but there are so many more sufferers that have it that need your help.
My second donating has gone to Max Appeal. Max Appeal! is a UK registered charity supporting families affected by DiGeorge syndrome, VCFS and 22q11.2 deletion. So why have I donated to this charity? quite simply put I know of 2 lovely boys who have 2q11.2ds. 1 in 1800 births are affected by this and it is the most common cause of congenital heart defects after Down’s Syndrome.
This is a charity that is needs more awareness and that is why I am donating to them.
Here are my donations to prove that I have donated to both of these charities.
And here is my Ice Bucket Challenge
