I was sent a tube of Eucerin Aquaphor Soothing Skin Balm to try out in my family’s daily routine.
It is clinically proven to smooth and protect very dry, cracked or irritated skin. It’s formulated with just seven ingredients and is gentle enough to be used on highly irritated skin as well as on sensitive baby skin and also nappy area and your face.
Aquaphor is designed to protect the skin by creating a breathable protective barrier, allowing oxygen and water vapour to circulate to and from the skin so it allows the skin to breathe and strengthens its natural barrier function.
I started using this straight away as I have had awful dry skin on my face, and I was very hopeful that it would help this. I also tried it on my hands and dry heels. My husband also tried it on his face and hands. I will mention I have not used it on my children as they do not have any dry skin.
The tub is small enough to be taken with you, pop it in your bag, the nappy bag or in your coat pocket, you can obviously keep it at home with you too. Mine has been sitting on my bedside table.
Pressing on the tube lightly the Aquaphor comes out easily, it looks like petroleum jelly and it is very oily. Putting this on my face, even though it is not a very thick product it felt thick on my skin.
I rubbed it in as much as I could and yes it did make the dryness look like it had disappeared. But I am not sure it was because it actually had or it was just the shiny film it left on my skin.
I could feel it on my skin even after rubbing it all again. To be honest I didn’t like the feeling of it on my face at all. It felt like I had put petroleum jelly all over it. It did not smell though. Sadly it just isn’t for me and I couldn’t use it any more because I just didn’t like it on my skin.
My husband tried it on his face and he felt the same. It wasn’t a good start. We still tried it on our hands, which is more an area that my husband has issues with than me. It did leave a film on the skin but it didn’t feel like it did on the face. Because it is on the hands it is a lot less noticeable.
It did make our hands feel smoother, softer. Even at the end of the day.
My heels do get very dry, although they are not too bad at the moment they are terrible in the summer. I rubbed the Aquaphor on them every night before bed and there is definitely some improvement, they are not as dry as they were. I really wish I had this in the summer to see the difference it could have made to my heels.
Overall, Eucerin Aquaphor Soothing Skin Balm is a great product, not particularly for our faces but that is just our personal opinion but it is great on hands and feet. We would both use this again for those areas.
