Decorating is not our favourite job but unfortunately it always needs to be done. So far we have not done to badly and decorated every room in the house apart from my youngest daughters bedroom and the utitilty room and downstairs toilet. At the moment we are about to start decorating my youngest daughters bedroom we have an idea of how to decorate it but just the thought makes me grumble.
I recently saw an ebook about How to Decorate with fantastic tips on how to strip wallpaper properly instead of gouging the walls which my husband frequently does and then has to fill in all the holes he makes. I think he really should have a read before attempting my daughters bedroom as she has that awful wood-chip paper up on her walls at the moment. Taking the wallpaper off is just the start though once it is all off you have to prepare the walls especially if you are painting instead of wallpapering it. There is absolutely loads of prep work and sometimes that can take a good couple of days as the skirting boards, door frames, doors and window sils all need to be prepared if you want the room to look good and almost professional.
My favourite part of decorating is the finished results, of course I would think that is everybodies favourite part as I do not know many people that actually enjoy decorating. The satisfaction that you get when the room is done, looks fresh and really doesn’t look at that bad even though I done it and of course when someone comes round and sees the finished room and compliments on how nice it looks. I usually grin like a Cheshire cat at that point thinking “I did that!”
I will be reading this ebook from cover to cover before I start any decorating.
