Age is just a number. It’s how you look and feel that counts, so don’t worry about those sarcastic ‘over the hill’ birthday cards or the magazines that arrive in the post from Saga. Instead, spend some much-deserved time on your appearance and wow everyone with your youthful looks.
Buy some decent lingerie
As we age, everything tends to head south. This can be a little depressing, but you don’t need a breast enlargement to improve your assets. The right lingerie can make a big difference to your body shape, so hit the high street and find something that gives you the lift and support you need. If you require thicker straps or a wider back than you did twenty years ago, it doesn’t matter. Simply choose something you feel comfortable and attractive in before taking it to the till.
Update your wardrobe
Whether you’re a mum to three grown up kids, a wife to a loving husband or a free spirit with a love for life, why not dress to impress? There are many wonderful clothes out there for all ages, so ditch those sweatpants and elasticated waists and make the most of your mature figure. If you’re not sure where to start, calculate your body shape before hitting the shops and discover what materials, cuts and designs you should be buying.
Look after your complexion
Lines and wrinkles are a natural part of the ageing process, but they’re not necessarily welcome. If you’ve embraced your new skin, that’s great, but if you would prefer a smoother complexion – fear not. Exfoliating on a weekly basis and moisturising daily will keep things soft and smooth, but always use products that are right for your skin type. If you’d prefer a longer-lasting option, a number of cosmetic surgery procedures are available, or you might prefer less invasive solutions like Botox or microdermabrasion.
Choose the right makeup
If you’ve been wearing the same makeup for years, it might be time to rethink. Powdered blusher and concealers were probably great in your youth, but they’re not ideal for older skin. The small particles get caught in fine lines, particular around the mouth, making it hard to achieve an even look. Liquid cosmetics, however, are much better as they gently cover all the contours of your face. For easy application, use a wet sponge in natural light – but try not to overdo it.
