Zander is getting to the age now where toys are getting more interesting for him, although at 13 months old he doesn’t quite grasp the role playing just yet. He loves touching, feeling, tasting and giving things intense looks.
We were sent the Brio Farm set to review, it is suitable for 18 months+ and as Zander is not quite that old yet I took away anything that I thought may not be suitable for him to play with.
Inside the box is; 1 barn, 1 wooden cow, 1 wooden horse, 1 wooden farmer, 1 bail of hay, 1 wheel barrow, 1 bucket, 1 shovel, 4 fences and 1 water pump. The bucket, shovel and wheel barrow had round hoops on the ends so you can put them onto the farmer. The water pump fixes to the barn.
The barn is made out of plastic and the barn doors swing open and closed, however Zander was not really interested in the barn, but he was interested in the cow, horse and farmer. They are the perfect size for his little hands but not too small that if he puts them in his mouth he will swallow them. He seemed really interested in the colours of these and he did try and taste them a few times. He loves to hold the animals and tends to take them wherever he goes in the living room. It has been an on going thing of trying to find them once he is in bed as he is really good at hiding them, under the sofa or in his toy box, they have even ended up in the kitchen.
I really like this set, you can tell just by looking and holding them that they are fantastic quality with the wooden figures being really thick wood and the plastic ones are thick plastic and so the barn in particular will not fall apart with a toddler playing with it.
I would definitely recommend the Brio Farm set as a toy for a toddler and I am sure Zander will have a few years of enjoyment with it at least.
You can purchase the Brio Farm Set for around £39.99 from the Brio website.
