With the hot weather we are having my daughter was over the moon to receive the ChillFactor Ice Cream Magic Tray to review.
The Ice Cream Magic Tray creates ice cream in minutes! Mix your ingredients in the included jug then pour onto the frozen metallic plate. Stir and scrape with the spatula to churn, within seconds you will have soft serve ice cream.
Inside the box is; a work stations, metallic tray, a jug, a small chopping board, plastic tools for scraping, chopping and crushing and instructions.
The first thing we did when it came was read the instructions. We had to prepare the freezing solution which was warm water and cooking salt mixed together until the salt dissolved and then pouring into the back of the metallic tray and screw the plug back up. We then placed it into the freezer with the metallic part facing upwards. If your freezer is the right temperature – below -10°C, it should be ready within 4-6 hours. I discovered my freezer wasn’t quite that temperature so adjusted the setting. I also left the tray in the freezer over night just to be sure it was frozen.
The next day we prepared the ingredients, now the instructions just say cream. I used double cream straight out of the fridge and added some raspberry syrup to it. Mixed it all up and then poured it into the green jug provided. You can also chop up some raspberries to add to the mix, crushed nuts, whatever you fancy really. My daughter just wanted the raspberry ice cream with a raspberry drizzling on the top.
Once we had finished preparing the ingredients and mixture we got the tray out of the freezer, slotting it into the work station, and then poured some of the mixture onto the tray. Now on your first go at this the mixture will freeze very quickly, and so you have to scrap it very quickly which can be tough going for little arms but I luckily I was there to help. After that initial time though it was easier and my daughter managed all by herself.
The more ice cream you make the slower the process is as all the while the freezing solution inside the tray is melting until you cannot make anymore ice cream.
That is okay though as I found it made just enough ice cream for my daughter without having too much.
Then you just wash the tray up and pop it back into the freezer for the next time.
This is a great way to experiment with flavours and different fruits, nuts etc. as you only make a little ice cream at a time. But also because you can get them to eat fruits and they will do it without thinking about it because it’s in ice cream.
Their creative mind will be thinking of what new things can they try with their ice cream.
My daughter is now willing the strawberry plants and raspberry bushes to produce more fruit so she can use them in her ice creams.
The ChillFactor Ice Cream Magic Tray is priced at £19.99 (RRP) and available to purchase at Character-Online.
