We were asked if we would like to review the new YO-KAI WATCH 2 game for the Nintendo 3DS and I knew this is something that my daughter Skye would absolutely love.
We were sent a code so we could download the game straight to the 3DS, we were given YO-KAI WATCH 2: Fleshy Souls, unfortunately Skye has trouble with this as her 3DS is quite an old one and it would not connect to our router, luckily I have the new version of the 3DS and I could download it on mine. So we went the e-store and purchased it.
It did take a while to download as we have very slow (ancient) internet here. As soon as it had downloaded though Skye was on it.
She first chose which gender she was and chose the name she wanted to use. Then it was time to play. At the beginning there is a little story sequence where the YO-KAI WATCH seems to have been stolen, then she wakes up and her memory has been erased, she can’t remember having the watch.
After a bit of time where she is talking to her mum and dad, they go to town go through a sequence of choosing which doughnuts mum and dad should have and goes bug searching. The character has a déjà vu moment as she approaches a shop in an alley way, a Memory store, purchases the watch and then goes to the prize machine. She then uses her watch to find other YO-KAI characters.
From what we have seen from playing so far it is a fun game, there are different chapters and basically you go through the chapters by collecting YO-KAI characters from doing every day things, like going to the town, walking around etc.
One thing is for sure this has kept Skye quiet for the past 2 days since she got it and that is unlike her.
YO-KAI WATCH 2 versions Bony Spirits and Fleshy Souls are available to purchase at good game stores and on the Nintendo e-shop now.
On April 7th 2017 the second wave of the Yo-Kai invasion hit Europe as YO-KAI WATCH 2: Bony Spirits and YO-KAI WATCH 2: Fleshy Souls and are now available on Nintendo 3DS family systems. Building on the popularity of the first YO-KAI WATCH game which took off even faster in Europe than it did in Japan this highly anticipated sequel is set to capture the imaginations of both existing fans and newcomers to the franchise alike. Kids can also look forward to season 2 of the YO-KAI WATCH animated series and a new range of toys from Hasbro, coming soon to Europe.
In the YO-KAI WATCH series there are mysterious forces behind common problems: from always feeling hungry to spending too much money or accidentally revealing your crush during class, there’s very likely to be a mischievous Yo-Kai to be found. Yo-Kai are charming, funny, outrageous characters that can be found everywhere, living secretly right beside us, and with a habit of causing a lot of weird problems for people – often with hilarious results. By battling them and a little understanding and the right food, players can befriend these mischievous Yo-Kai – both old and new – as they take part in an epic adventure.
The gameplay that fans loved in the original YO-KAI WATCH game returns in the sequel, as players take control of Nate or Katie and explore Springdale and its surrounding to investigate a series of curious occurrences, This time though, the stakes are higher, as a pair of sinister Yo-Kai are determined to steal the To-Kai Watch and bring havoc to the town and its residents. As Nate or Katie, the player must uncover their nefarious plot, and even travel back 60 years into the past to do so – exploring a past version of Springdale, and being entrusted with the original Yo-Kai Watch.
This time around, there’s a schism in the Yo-Kai World, and players will join either the Bony or Fleshy army, depending on which version of YO-KAI WATCH 2 they choose, and players can participate in the Bony Spirits/Fleshy Souls rivalry by winning online battles and earning points to help their chosen side emerge victorious. Each of the two versions include five exclusive and unique Yo-Kai which can be traded locally and online.
