We were asked if we would like to take part in the ‘Wicked Uncle Challenge’ and we had to find a grown up that has no children and no real clue about children to purchase some gifts. They were then to purchase gifts for the children from the Wicked Uncle website.
I asked my 17 year old sister to be the Wicked grown up as she is very clueless when it comes to younger children’s gifts. She was given a gift voucher and all I said to her was that she needed to buy some gifts for my 2 youngest children, newborn and 9 years old.
Now I know buying for a newborn is difficult even if you have children yourself so I knew that this would be a challenge for her, but my 9 year old can be difficult to buy for too. The process of picking and ordering the gifts was very easy as was the checkout. You can even add a note to the packaged.
My sister did say there was quite a lot to choose from for my 9 year old, she was quite spoilt for choice in fact with craft items, games, journals, books and chocolate to name a few. However there was not a lot of choice in the baby boy section which made it even more difficult to find something, especially as she had to keep within the budget too. But she did it and I was shocked when the parcel turned up and saw what she had bought for my children.
She had chosen great gifts for my 2 youngest children. Here they are;
Suitcase Sewing Kit, my sister knows my daughter likes to make things although it is usually something with beads so when she spotted this she thought it would be something different for my daughter to do.
As soon as my daughter saw it she said she was really happy that it was chosen, she has wanted to learn to sew for while and this sewing kit. It has everything to make a small project with, needles, pins, tape measure, cotton, fabric, felt and so much more. My daughter attempted to make a heart with it so far and she was so pleased with the final result, it has certainly made her want to do more sewing.
The second gift was a Mood Cube, which is a LED box 7cm square that takes batteries and glows several different colours one by one fading into each other.
My daughter was over the moon with this and she now uses it as a night light, although it doesn’t give off that much light at night it is quite relaxing to look at.
The final gift was for my baby boy, buying for babies is hard at the best of times so I was really interested in what my sister chose for him as she doesn’t know any baby boys at all. She chose to get him the Little Bear Comforter from Doudou Et Cie, this is a little teddy bear holding a small blanket, it is neutral colours so perfect for both boys and girls.
Because it is small it is ideal for babies to hold and the blanket is so soft and snuggly. It comes in a gift box too which unfolds to display the little bear.
My sister did good considering she has no clue on what children like or dislike or what is really suitable for them. We are really happy with her choices.
