I am not sure if many of you have heard of Sprayway so I thought I would tell you something about them before I wrote my review. Sprayway are a clothing company and it was founded in 1974 by two outdoor enthusiasts in Manchester UK. They initially started with sailing clothing but as they liked to mountaineer they found a lack in the market for durable, solid and waterproof clothing and from there they have made clothing that is comfortable, durable, waterproof and now lightweight clothing that is suitable in the summer. Their clothing is available for men, women, and children.
We were sent a Tori Shirt, Tori Shorts and Tori Tee for my six year old daughter.
The Tori was a pink check design with long sleeves that can be rolled up and fastened if wanting it as a short sleeved shirt. It has a Peter Pan style collar. The shirt has buttons half way down the centre of the shirt. Looking at the image of this before receiving it I thought it would be quite thick and as it is for the summertime I worried that my daughter might get too hot in it, however once it came I realised it was a very lightweight shirt and looks even better in the “flesh” so to speak than on an image. The Shirt is great for kids as it is UPF 30. If you do not know what that means which before checking it out I didn’t then it means it will allow 1/30th of UV rays to pass through the clothing. I think this is brilliant as even with sun screen on my children I worry about the UV ray damage.
The Tori shorts are a silver colour although I would say they are more of a green/khaki colour but not as dark. They have an expandable outer waistband which has three settings. There are two side pockets an each one has the same check design inside as the Tori shirt as does the inside back of the waist and the inside cuffs of the bottom of the shorts. The fastening is a zip fly with a top button. The Tori shorts are UPF 50.
The Tori Tee is a lovely t-shirt available in both Hot Pink and Cerulean blue, we chose the hot pink as my daughter loves to wear pink. The tee is a thicker tee, and when I say thicker it isn’t really thick but a quality thickness. It has a binding finish on the neck and cuffs and a pin-tuck yoke design and side slits. The Tori Tee is also UPF 50.
My daughter loves wearing these, although she was not sure on the shorts to start with, she didn’t really like the colour. I like knowing that she has got extra protection from UV rays while wearing these and as they are light weight she gets less sweaty in the hot sun. All of the clothing has the Sprayway logo on them. All of the clothing looks very stylish and good quality.
If I had one criticism it would be that the clothing is not true to size. My daughter is aged six but usually wears age 8 clothing. We received age 8-9 and they were quite tight on her.
