Did you know my oldest daughter turned 18 a few weeks ago? I feel old! Turning 18 is a special time, finally an adult and can go to pubs and clubs. In the past when you turned 18 you received a key to the house, this has changed now though, most teens have a key to their house before their 18th birthday. This is what the decorative 18th silver keys that you see in card shops mean and they are still given on this birthday.
My daughter is hard to buy for, and so instead of buying her one big main present she had many smaller gifts and I was asked by ToxicFox if I’d like anything from their personalised birthday gifts range for the occasion. I hadn’t thought of getting anything personalised for her until that point but thought it would be lovely to have something to remember her birthday by.
I chose a Pink Watch Charm Bracelet as she really likes charm bracelets and I liked the fact that it had a watch which was in the shape of a heart and had sparkly gems around it so it looks beautiful. She can add to the charms whenever she wants. It also had a personalised message charm in the shape of a heart. The actual charm bracelet is 18cm in length and has has a clasp fitting to keep it secure. The smaller charms need to be twisted on and there are also 2 stopper charms which prevents the charms falling off when putting it on and taking it off.
I chose to have the engraving “On your 18th Love Mum x”
I was actually surprised how quickly it arrived, it only took a week from ordering, engraving and arriving at my door which I thought was a great turnover time for a personalised item.
The charm bracelet came in a pretty black and white gift box. Upon opening the box I found all of the pieces of the charm bracelet wrapped separately. So before I wrapped it up I took the stickers off the gift box and made the bracelet up as I know she would be too busy to do it herself on her birthday. She didn’t know she was getting it either so it would be a great surprise for her.
A few days later and it was the day of her 18th Birthday, she got up earlier than normal as she had a busy day planned but of course had to open her cards and presents before going out.
I gave her the present and she looked at me as if to say…another present?!
She opened it up and a big grin was plastered on her face. ‘I love it!’ was what she said and quickly went about putting it on her wrist.
She spotted the engraving and another big smile on her face, thanks mum, I really do love it she said.
Throughout the next few days a lot of people asked her what she got for her birthday and she told them and showed off her bracelet.
The only time she has it off her wrist is if she is showering or at night so I know she likes it.
