I haven’t got PCOS but I have been using the OvuSense fertility monitor for 2 cycles. I am actually in shock with it though as we have been trying for baby number 3 for 8 years. Excluding when we had the Clomid and ICSI we relied on OPK (ovulation predictor kits) and CM (cervical mucus) as signs.
So on cycle two I decided to see whether I would get a positive test on the OPK at the same that I actually ovulate according to Ovusense.
I got a positive OPK on Thursday 5th March (CD17) and had a slight spike in temperature on the ovusense. I had the right CM too but Friday morning and onwards the Ovusense hadn’t detected ovulation. I actually got my fertile window on the OvuSense on 12th March with ovulation prediction the same day although I was sure it would settle to Monday 9th or Tuesday 10th March as the actual ovulation day.
So that told me maybe my body geared up to ovulate and decided not to OR OPK’s are rubbish for me.
I am completely gutted that all of this time I thought I was ovulating when the OPK’s told me that it could have been wrong for the last 8 years. That is a lot of time wasted.
Still my ovulation was confirmed at Tuesday 10th March and I had a 12 day luteal phase which is good.
Unfortunately I did not get pregnant on cycle 2 but I am learning to read the graph better now and know what to look out for during the time I think I am ovulating. A temperature dip with fertile CM is a good indicator that I will possibly ovulate.
I do want to say that the OvuSense team are absolutely fantastic. They run a great support group are caring and really easy to talk to about absolutely anything. I also had an issue with the OvuSense reader not storing my previous months properly but they were quick on the ball and replaced it the next day.
Until cycle 3…
