Tooth care is very important not just for the likes of you or me but the sooner you can get a baby in a routine of cleaning their teeth the easier it is for them to continue that routine throughout their lives.
Zander now has 7 teeth through and I have been brushing his teeth as soon as his first one came through. We were sent some products from Jack N’ Jill’s eco friendly range to try.
We received a Sleepover bag, Baby Gum and Tooth Wipes, 2 x toothpastes in flavour free and banana flavour, Silicone Finger Brush pack and Stage Two Silicone Toothbrush. All of Jack N’ Jill’s products are eco friendly.
I brush Zander’s teeth morning and night, I decided to try the silicone finger brush with him first with some of the flavour free toothpaste. The toothpaste is free from fluoride, sugar, sodium lauryl sulphates, gluten and colour but it is rich in Xylitol. The silicone finger brush is made from 100% medical/foodgrade silicone.
The silicone finger brush I find is a little easier to use to start with when brushing baby’s teeth as it just slides on your finger. I just added a tiny amount of toothpaste to the silicone bristles and brushed his teeth, he likes his teeth brushed and will willingly allow me to do it, which is great as it could have turned into quite the ordeal. I did start biting down quite hard on it though due to more teeth coming through so a week or two later I tried with the silicone toothbrush as it was getting a little uncomfortable with him biting down so hard on the finger brush.
What I liked about the stage 2 silicone toothbrush was that it had a safety shield with it so even if Zander grabbed the toothbrush it would only go in his mouth so far so no risk of choking. He also tried out the banana toothpaste too.
He loves banana flavour in anything so this toothpaste was a huge hit for him and really enjoyed having his teeth brushed with these. The toothbrush is very soft as it is silicone so even if his gums get knocked slightly, the toothbrush will not cause any damage.
The bristles on both toothbrushes are extremely soft and they are both easy to clean.
When I have finished brushing his teeth I clean and dry the brushes and store them in the beautiful little Jack N’ Jill Sleepover bag. The back is 100% cotton shell with water resistant lining and quite easily stores all 3 toothbrushes and both toothpastes too.
Once Zander has ran out of toothpaste I will definitely be getting some more from Jack N’ Jill as they have lots of different flavours to try.
I have not used the tooth wipes as now we are established with a toothbrush morning and night I have no need to but they are all natural and sage wuth Xylitol, flavour free and 100% soft cotton, steam sterilised and gently textured. They are safe from birth, perfect for babies that are starting to teethe.
