Before I fell pregnant I had been using OvuSense as an aide to pinpointing ovulation every month for about a year.
It is a great little machine with a sensor that is inserted vaginally at night at around day 6 of your cycle or when you stop bleeding. Every night before inserting you have to activate it on the monitor and then insert it as soon as possible as it starts measuring your temperature about every 5 minutes throughout the night and then gives an average in the morning once you have downloaded the data onto the monitor.
It is a very straight forward piece of kit and you may only have to insert the sensor for as little as week, depending when the monitor tells you that you can stop using it.
I have had a few problems during the year, with my sensor breaking, the monitor breaking but the issues were resolved very quickly and I cannot praise the customer service team enough. I had broken items replaced within a day or two of contacting them.
Did I do anything else to help with getting pregnant? Well to be honest during the first few months I changed absolutely nothing. We just carried on like we were doing before the OvuSense came into our life, taking preconception multivitamins and doing the deed at optimal times but it was not happening. My husband has poor sperm due it a vasectomy and then a reversal several years later, but we did fall pregnant naturally before so this didn’t stop us getting our hopes up.
I was reading a forum and I saw that a lot of women with partners that had sperm issues had put them on Fertilaid for men and I thought about it long and hard, the benefits, the price etc and my husband and I agreed that it would be worth a try even though they are not the cheapest of tablets.
I not only had him take the Fertilaid for men which claims to promote sperm count and motility but I also gave him the Fairhaven motility boost along with his conception vitamins.
Now I know that even when taking these tablets you are looking at waiting about 3 months before any changes start to happen as sperm regenerated at around every 74 days or so. We ordered these early May and received them towards the end of May and my husband started taking them straight away.
My last period was at the end of August and I conceived around the 7th/8th September so that was 3 months after starting the tablets. I do certainly think they helped a lot with our trying for a baby struggles.
I don’t think it would have happened on its own without the Fertiliaid as we had been trying for a long 8 and a half years before hand so I give a huge thanks to both OvuSense and Fertilaid.
My advice would be never give up!
I am now almost 15 weeks pregnant with our little miracle and I am over the moon.
