This weekend has been a little quiet as in we didn’t go anywhere really. My youngest daughter wants to start guitar lessons at school after Christmas so we bought her a 3/4 guitar and then daddy decided he would brush up on his guitar playing and I felt a little left out. I was then told that my little sister has a 3/4 guitar that she no longer uses and that I could buy it off her. Whoop I thought sounds fab for learning on. So I got it.
The problem I had with it was although it was perfect size for me I didn’t like the nylon strings and once my husband had rocked out a few tunes on his electro-acoustic guitar or as my daughter calls it a flungadung I was a little jealous that it sounded so much better and it wasn’t just because he was good at playing it. I wanted my guitar to sound good and I could pull off some noise (I wouldn’t call it music) but it didn’t sounds as good as when I used his guitar to play the same thing.
Saturday evening I talked to my husband and told him my thoughts about it and he said if I was serious in learning I could buy an electro-acoustic guitar.
I know I sometimes go through phases so decided to purchase one from the good old local Facebook selling site that way I would not be spending a fortune and it would be ok to learn with, then if I continue with it and get ‘good’ at playing I am looking at getting a Fender, well maybe one day.
Here is my love new (to me) guitar.
I love it, it sounds so much better and I am learning faster as I am not as frustrated with the strings as I was with the 3/4 guitar. Although my fingers are sore as I have never played a guitar before this weekend in my life and my left wrist feels like it is about to snap off I think I am making good progress.
So I have been practicing properly since Sunday, it is now Tuesday and I am trying to attempt Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol and I am definitely getting somewhere with it, I now know the chords I have to play I am just a little slow in chord changes at the moment but that will get better with more practice.
My fingers are still hurting so I am giving myself around 15-20 burst of playing and about 3 hours rest just so my fingers don’t actually blister or bleed.
