Have you noticed that the price of your weekly or monthly food shop at certain supermarkets has gone up quite a bit?
I do my shopping weekly, usually buy pretty much the same things week in week out, obviously there are times when it is more expensive when I get washing capsules, toilet roll, nappies, shampoo etc but on a normal week it is roughly the same price every week.
Before Christmas my weekly shop would be roughly £55-£65 that is for a family of 4 plus 2 dogs, which is not that bad for us. I do my shopping online so I can see what I got the week before and I tend to not check the special offers section or cakes section else I would spend a lot more than I need to, so just essentials really.
I had noticed that from the week after Christmas my weekly shopping bill had been slowly creeping up and what used to be £55-£65 was now £80-£90 so instead of rushing through my online shopping I took a look at all the products I was adding to my basket and was shocked to find that prices indeed had gone up. 9p on 4 pints of milk ( I get 4 of these), 20p on margarine , a few pence on this and a few pence on that. It soon adds up.
I have also noticed that with a particular supermarket that they no longer sell certain things for instance margarine they only have their own brand or Flora which is great if you like those but my family don’t. A lot of the things we did buy have also disappeared from the shelves so I am finding myself shopping around more and more.
Yes I do most weeks shopping at the same supermarket, mainly because I am signed up to a delivery saver scheme that doesn’t end for a couple more months but when I need margarine I tend to go to another supermarket to do my online shopping and it does cost me a little less too!
Have you noticed your shopping bills have risen lately?
