2017 is here and with that a new year of exciting new food and drink products to try in Degustabox. For those that do not know what a Degustabox is, it is a monthly food and drink subscription box.
This is what we got in our January Degustabox;
Quinola Mothergrain – Ready Cooked Organic and Fairtrade Pearl Quinoa with Split Peas. 100% Organic and packed full of nutrients, delicious hot or cold. A perfect accompaniment to any meal or a nutritious filler to eat on the go. The whole Quinola Mothergrain Express range is gluten free and suitable for vegans.
This is not something I would eat however my daughter will try anything and so I asked her to try it. She said that it tasted nice, had a rice-like texture. She had this for lunch and it did fill her up.
Aspire Drinks – Aspire is a healthy energy, calorie free, sugar free beverage, that is made up using good-for-you ingredients. Aspire’s active properties include a premium grade green tea (EGCG), that provides healthy sustainable energy and helps support weight management. It also has other beneficial extracts too, such as ginger and guaranteed.
I have tried these in the past, they are an energy drink, they remind me of just carbonated flavoured water, there is flavour but it is not strong and all I could really taste was the sweetener which I didn’t like. It gave a horrible after taste too.
Finn Crisps – New from Europe’s most famous thin crispbreads producer, FINN CRISP Snacks offer you tasty, crunchy Seed & Sea Salt for healthy anytime nibbling. Delicious, with a satisfying aromatic bite, they are high in fibre with no added fat, so you can enjoy them with guilt-free pleasure!
These were very different, Seeds and Sea Salt, I liked them. Obviously I couldn’t eat much of these in one time as they were coated in sea salt but the flavour was really nice. I would buy these in the future.
Natvia – Natvia is the 100% sweetener that’s sweet like sugar but without the calories or any artificial nasties. Made from stevia plant and natural nectar, Natvia is diabetic friendly and only has 0.4 calories per serve. We love Natvia because it’s healthy, tastes delicious and you can use it just like sugar in baking, tea, coffee, smoothies and yummy treats.
I am not a fan of sweeteners but I did try this, it wasn’t to my liking however my husband tried it in his coffee and he said it was not bad. Much the same as other sweeteners that he has tried.
Protein Boost – When you have a million and one things to do in a day and you need a little extra get up and go. Say hello to Protein Boost; 20g of protein in a handy little bottle, brimming with good stuff and a price that leaves a smile on your face.
This was strawberry flavour (my favourite) and so it wasn’t long before I tried this. It tasted very much like strawberry milk shake. It was very nice. I would get this again.
Propercorn – Tumbled in all-natural seasoning. Crunch Corn’s unique texture offers a perfect alternative to nuts. All four Crunch Corn flavours are gluten-free, suitable for vegans and seasoned using the best-quality, natural ingredients.
Unfortunately this was not in our box so we could not try it.
The Collective – Our passion at The Collective is to provide the greatest dairy imaginable. We hope you enjoy trying our ridiculously tasty gourmet live yoghurt with its double layer of fresh fruit compote – perfect for brekkie, a snack or a dessert. What’s more they contain no added nasties…great dairy, no bull!
We were given a voucher to purchase one of these. I have not actually been able to get it yet though as my local store does not have it in.
Fruittella 30% Less Sugar – Fruit lovers inspired Fruittella to create delicious sweets! Now Fruittella has squeezed even more fruit juice into every sweet. Enjoy the unmistakable fruity taste, with 30% less sugar. Try something special:
- Even more fruity juice
- No sweeteners
- Natural flavours & colourings
- 30% less sugar
I thought these may taste a little different as there is less sugar in them but I was pleasantly surprised that they tasted just as good as the original Fruittellas.
Yushoi – Coconut & Chilli Yushoi Snapea rick sticks are a delicious alternative to fried potato crisps. Made using green peas and baked, they are high in fibre and a good source of protein. An excellent snack swap for those that want to eat products that are better for you.
These are a love or hate kind of snack. I thought our of all of our family my daughter would enjoy them as they were coconut and chilli but she didn’t which I was surprised about. My husband tried them and didn’t think much of them either. Myself and my oldest daughter could not try them due to them having coconut in them.
Crabbie’s – Crabbie’s the UK’s number 1 Alcoholic Ginger Beer is crafted for 6 weeks using real ginger and spices, to create its unique taste. Crabbie’s Scottish Raspberry is a delicious burst of fruity refreshment with a hint of ginger. Crabbie’s can be enjoyed as part of a Gluten Free diet.
When I think Ginger Beer I think yuck however this drink has just a slight hint of ginger in it as the raspberry really comes through. It was a nice drink. I like that it was in a can too.
Popchips – Popchips, the fastest growing crisp brand in the UK, have launched a delicious and better-for-you ridged range. The new ridges have the same Big Crunch and bold flavour that makes the conventional fried crisp so craveable, but with under 100 calories a serving. All flavours are popped (not fried), gluten free and vegetarian.
Smoky Bacon Popchips what is not to love, and the fact that they are popped not fried is even better. These went down very well when we had a movie night with the family. I think we needed more bags though.
The Chia Co – At The Chia Co we are passionate about positive plant based nutrition. Our chia seeds are bursting with fibre, omega 3 and protein. We guarantee the high quality nutrition in each chia seed as we sustainably grow it ourselves.
We sprinkle Chia seeds in with cereal as they have so much nutrition in them. They are tiny seeds but I have had so many great things about Chia seeds that I do try to get the family to have them when I can. They do not taste of anything.
You can get a huge £7 off your first box which will cost you just £5.99 including delivery by using this code INCVF when registering on the Degustabox website.
