Another Degustabox arrived at my door late August and as it is a surprise subscription box I had no clue what would be in there.
This is what was in my box this month;
Tabasco Sauce – Tabasco Sweet & Sticky Barbecue Sauce & Marinade is a mild Barbecue sauce enhanced by the rich and smoky flavours of Tabasco Chipotle Sauce. Perfect for drizzling over pulled pork, marinating ribs and pouring on your burger. Available now in Tesco and Asda.
This was something my husband and daughter spotted straight away and couldn’t wait to try it. According to them it is full of flavour and really tasty. They used it as a sauce rather than a marinade and it was the perfect sauce for dipping their chips in. They were very impressed with this.
Clipper Tea – Clipper Green Tea is characteristically light and clear. With green tea, it is all about the quality of the leaves and the expertise in the production process, which gives us the distinct profile we are searching for. We only work with trusted estates to buy our green tea and often use southern Indian leaves as this delivers the delicately subtle taste we’re looking for.
I am a tea lover, however regular tea, I really do not like Green Tea but I did try this, just in case it was different from others I have tried in the past. Unfortunately it tasted just the same and I didn’t like it at all.
Aromatic Thai Noodles NutriPot – Every NutriPot contains 50% of all the 28 vitamins and minerals your body requires every day and are designed to provide a healthy, nutritious option that’s quick and easy to prepare – you just need to put the kettle on! For a little extra spice in your life grab a Thai Noodle flavour NutriPot. Packed with protein, fibre and 50% of your daily vitamin and mineral needs; helping you to get through the day with a little more ease. NutriPot. Healthy fast food for life on the go.
Moroccan Couscous NutriPot – The Moroccan Coucous flavour NutriPot is packed with taste and goodness; enjoy a filling meal which is high in protein (keeping you fuller for longer), low in saturated fats and has no added sugar, artificial colours or preservatives.
My husband tried both of these as I do not like Thai or Coucous. They were really quick to make, just pour hot water from the kettle on to them and wait until the water has soaked in.
However they seemed to be really watery. My husband said that they were not very nice and for the price per pot he will stick to his regular noodles.
Dorset Cereals Bircher Muesli – Originated in Switzerland, Bircher muesli is made by soaking oats overnight in juice and yoghurt, with a touch of grated fruit. We’ve simplified the method with our fruity Bircher mixes, using finely milled oats and dried fruit which can be soaked in as little as 30 minutes, for a cooler, creamier muesli.
I love muesli, and this one sounded even better especially as it is fruity. I tried this the very next morning and although muesli is quite dusty and bland, I found this really tasty, the fruit combination was delicious.
Get More Multivitamins – Get More Vitamin Drinks provide a refreshing way to top up your vitamins, made with fresh spring water, natural flavours and no added sugar. With 6 varieties including Get More Multivitamins, the range is available in selected Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s, WH Smith, Spar, Superdrug and Roadchef stores nationwide and on Ocado.
This was a sparkling Lemon and Lime flavoured water. I chilled it in the fridge first. It is really refreshing and tasty and knowing that it contains vitamins makes it even better.
Oloves – Juicy Olives seasoned with a little cheeky chilli, garlic and oregano – Wooster! Oloves; bring you the tastiest olives, freshly packed and in a range of delicious flavours, Bursting with natural goodness, low in calories. No stones. No fuss. Just the best snack going.
None of the family are a fan of olives therefore we did not try these.
Mahou Cinco Estrellas – Mahou Cinco Estrellas, an international premium lager from Madrid, with 126 years of history, has always been there to satisfy the most demanding Tate buds. Produced using the finest varieties of hops and yeast, it stands out for its golden colour and distinctively mild taste. The result; a well-balanced flavour which lingers in the mouth.
My husband likes a lager every now and then and this one piqued his attention. He said it was full of flavour and refreshing. He would purchase this again.
Geeta’s Curry Pastes – A medium Tikka and a medium Rogan Josh curry paste created with Geeta’s own special blend of exotic spices, develops a delicious aromatic curry, perfect for two.
We have not tried these yet, mainly because I am not a fan of medium curries and there is only a certain few mild ones that I can eat. My husband has said that the pastes sound good and he will try one of them for him and the children shortly.
Willy Chase’s Fit Corn – Willy Chase’s Fit popcorn begins and ends its journey at the Chase farm in rural Herefordshire. Grown, harvested, air-popped and seasoned with delicious local ingredients. It’s popcorn with pedigree, because food tastes better fresh from the farm!
These were apple cider vinegar flavour which seemed a bit strange to me however upon tasting it I found that it was a sweet salt and vinegar style popcorn. It was actually quite tasty although I wouldn’t be able to eat the whole bag in one sitting.
Rakusen’s Snackers – Rakusen’s Plain & Gluten Free Snackers are less than 1% fat and only seven calories in every cracker, they really do get better with every guilt-free bite. Great with a topping or without, they’re the perfect healthy lunchbox treat that can also serve as a low fat snack any time. They are great with cream cheese and a slice of strawberry for a simple canapé, or try them with hummus or avacado dips for a healthy snack.
We received 2 packets of these. We didn’t bother with any topping and just ate them straight out of the packet. They were very nice and filling. We would buy these again.
We also received Geeta’s Premium Mango Chutney and Capsicana Chilli & Coconut Brazilian Cook Sauce, both of which we have not tried yet.
And Fentimans Sparkling Lime and Jasmine drink. This was actually really nice and flavoursome. It actually surprised me as it was delicious and thirst quenching.
Overall I think that this month’s Degustabox was quite disappointing, it seemed to focus of more healthy foods, and spicy which I cannot eat so very little I could actually try myself, but then again that is the risk you take when you sign up for a surprise box. However that said, every other boxes I have received have been great, so many it was just a dud month.
