My daughter was super excited when I told her we were getting a ChillFactor Slushy Maker to review. She had spotted them before and had asked for one but naughty mummy has got a brain like a sieve and I completely forgot.
We received the ChillFactor Tutti Fruity Slushy Maker in purple with pink top and lid. which happens to be my daughters favourite colours. Inside the box is everything you need to make your slushy apart from the drink. There is the ChillFactor Tutti Fruity Slushy Maker which includes a lid and reusable spoon-straw and instructions.
After reading the instructions thoroughly I washed everything and then put just the bottom part of the slushy maker into the freezer, leaving the lid off. We left it in the freezer for 6 hours as it says to freeze it for 4-6 hours at below -10°C/14°F. I didn’t actually know what temperature my freezer was at so it was hit or miss if it would work. But if it didn’t the instructions do state you can leave it overnight too.
Our first attempt after 6 hours did not work, we managed to get the tiniest amount of slush but it did not progress. I had a disappointed daughter but I did tell her overnight would be better but she kept hassling as kids do.
The next day we tried again, I poured some drink into the slushy maker, added the lid and started to squeeze the sides. Within a minute we saw some slush being formed but we carried on squeezing for longer until we were happy with the result.
Because the slushy maker is soft it is easy for children to squeeze it themselves.
Here is our first slushy, I think this was made with blackcurrant diluted squash. We decided it tasted more like ice than slushy and that we would try a different drink next time.
The second try was with lemonade, I really liked it although I was only allowed to try a tiny scoop of it. My daughter liked the lemonade one too.
We have also tried pure orange juice, so far this has been my daughters favourite out of the flavours we have tried.
I will be buying some milkshake or smoothie and adding it to the ChillFactor Tutti Fruity Slushy Maker and see what my daughter makes of those. There really are a lot of possibilities of slushies that you can make with this.
Once you have finished your slushy you simply was it all out and pop it back into the freezer until next time. It is recommended that when not in use that it is stored in the freezer. Which I like as it means if my daughter asks for a slushy which is limited to one a day anyway, she will be able to have one.
There is no mess with this as everything is contained in the cup and is really simple with no having to use a blender or anything.
I will be buying another before the summer as I know she will want more than one in the hot weather.
The ChillFactor Tutti Fruity Slushy Maker range comes in 4 green colours, Pink, Blue, Purple and Orange. They are available from Character-Online and cost £12.99 each.
